Troubleshoot, tune and get the most out of your system

The main reason I own a Sonos system is to listen to US and Ireland radio stations, for music (bluegrass, folk etc) and current affairs (RTÉ). Suddenly a few days ago ALL of these have stopped playing, either via TuneIn or MyTuner. (They have never been available on Sonos Radio). I spent almost two hours with the online live help two days ago and she was unable to solve it, and seemed to be totally unaware of the issue previously. She suggested i would have to phone the helpline (which I avoided because of the 45 min wait) to see if it was a problem with my (relatively new) router. I looked through here and tried adding the station’s url to the TuneIn app but that didn’t work. I also deleted both apps and reinstalled - no joy.Grant it, I’m using the old/original Play:1 and Play:5 models, but I don’;t think this is the issue? Will I need to finally DITCH the whole system??If so, what is the best alternative?FUMING!
I have been dealing with this since you FORCED this joke of an app update on us. NO INTELLIGENT support has been offered or available to date. I have followed all the recommended troubleshooting docs on this site and nothing has helped. My system worked flawlessly before you broke it with the new app. Now my speakers are seen in the spotify app but not in the Sonos app. READ THAT AGAIN! Spotify app sees them but the Sonos app does not. That should be a HUGE CLUE!!! I want a refund on all of my devices. YOU BROKE THIS NOT ME. My network is not the issue. It worked fine until you forced the update and now you expect me to change it to accommodate your poorly written code. Hire someone that knows how to run a company properly. FIX THIS NOW or come get this junk and give me my money back!
How do you edit, remove, add, reorder a speaker queue list? It’s not easily found and if not available now it’s a great step forward for the app but 10 steps back for leaving this option out and I will be reverting to previous S2 app!!
There are a number of symptoms that some members are experiencing with the Sonos S2 App update. They range from a simple annoyance to severe as members would characterize them. I can’t address all the concerns so I thought I’d pick one that may be solvable; if one is willing to take the necessary investigative steps. Sonos App Loading/Running Slow Here are some things you might consider:Low storage space on your device * Too many apps running in the background of your device Device not running the latest software/firmware Time to invest in a new deviceOpening Pandora’s Box Network Issues (A resolution could be a simple reboot, VPN block removal or in some cases surgical measures required) If owned it may be time to invest in new network gear or request update from ISPJust food for thought 🤔 * Although I can’t verify this but the updated app may be larger in size than the previous version which requires more space
Just upgraded to the latest, new and improved Sonos app on my mobile phone (iPhone) and it has led to my losing my complete music library which is on a NAS.After some discussions with support, they confirmed that this option is not available - only the commercial streaming services (and it does recognise Plex) are visible and accessible but no proprietary My Music Library.Allegedly this will be rolled out in a future iteration, but no timeframe provided.Beware if you are considering upgrading
It's impossible to control the volume with this "update", it does what it wants, I have it at 54, move it to 75, goes back to 54, has done that 10 times without allowing me to change the volume. It keeps asking me to reauthorize spotify even though it says every time that it was authorized successfully.Every time I open the app, it can't find my system and have to jump through hoops before it finds it again.Sonos, do everyone a favor and FIRE all your "developers" and go back two versions until you are able to come up with a FUNCTIONAL app. This is worse than garbage. This is not even a beta version Using version 80.04.05 from July 3rd.
So within the BBC Sounds on the new app when you are trying to listen to a podcast or a show on catch-up there is no way of telling a)what date the show was broadcast or b) if you have already started listening to a show.In the previous app, when looking at shows in BBC sounds it would display both the date of broadcast, but also usefully a little circle that would fill up around the play button showing what percentage of your show you've listened to. You'd then know whether to continue listening or go onto the next show. But on the new one it's impossible to tell. Very annoying.
What happened to this company? I own 8 Sonos devices and nothing works. Customer service is no less than an hour’s wait. Need to find a new provider. Any suggestions which may allow me to keep my equipment?
all in the title - it wasn’t perfect, but at least it worked
Sonos did not find my iTunes playlists when updating my library.iTunes stores playlist info in the file iTunes Music Library.xml. I found it on my Asus in C:\users\Asus\Music\iTunes. I tried adding this folder to the Sonos library but still no playlists. I keep my music in a different folder C:\iTunes Music, which I add to the Sonos Music Library. Sonos finds my music here. Sonos seems to need the xml file in the same folder as the music. So I copied and pasted the xml file to my C:\iTunes Music folder. Now Sonos finds the playlists. I just have to remember to copy and paste when I create a new playlist. BTY, I love Genius for making playlists.I am not sure how I found this solution. I may have to credit someone else. But I could not find in prior conversations. So I thought this post may be of help to someone.
If you're in the market for over-the-ear headphones and are an Apple user, you may be torn between the AirPods Max and Sonos Ace. As a devoted Sonos fan, I was excited to try out the Ace after losing my AirPods Pro. While the sound quality was impressive, I was disappointed to discover that the Ace did not work with the Sonos controller, which was a major selling point for me. Additionally, the inability to mute/unmute Teams from the headset proved frustrating. When I used the Ace as a headset with my phone, I realized just how dependent I am on the "Hey Siri" command and missed having Siri read off text messages. In comparison, the AirPods Max provided the seamless integration into the Apple ecosystem that I was missing with the Ace. While the sound quality was comparable, the Max's ability to work perfectly with other Apple products, including Siri and Apple TV, was a game-changer.Both headphones have their advantages and disadvantages. The Ace is lighter and comes with a great case,
Something that I have found frustrating about playback of FLAC encoded files (on a local media server) is that playback can be very inconsistent, and it’s often not obvious why. After a bit of investigation, it seems that one reason is that the track can be encoded in a way that Sonos doesn’t support, and yet the system tries to play it anyway. The example I have here is OK (2-channel, 44.1kHz) except for one parameter: it is encoded at a bit-depth of 32, while Sonos only officially supports up to 16 bit-depth.The problem is that the track plays OK for about 2 minutes and then just stops playing. Oddly other tracks from the same album - also encoded with bit-depth of 32 - play fine to the end. If I re-encode the problem track with bit-depth of 16, it plays OK to the end.My request is this: the bit depth is readable in the track metadata before playback even starts. Please can we have tighter enforcement so that the system simply refuses to play a track if it is not in a supported format
My system has been essentially bricked since the new app. I have probably six grand or so in components that are barely usable. I’m unable to run it on my desktop as of a couple of years ago (won’t support Win 7), the new build won’t run on my Ipad (it is too old to support the required iOS) and the app is completely unstable on our Android devices, a pair of Motorola G7s with Android 11.Attempting to open the app on either Android results in a black screen with Sonos logo that freezes for three to five minutes until the system pops a message that the app has quit responding with selections to cancel or wait. Selecting wait, oddly enough, will get me into the app but it is unstable when it opens. It is marginally responsive to volume adjustments or completely unresponsive. The updated UI is terrible compared to the last one that functioned. I cannot be the only one having this problem. I’ve whined in here and waited copious amounts of time for tech support and can find no resolution. At
Everything is up to date, firmware 16.3, new IOS apps on all three of my iPads. What is happening is, you have a queue in a room, that was playing, but now paused, you go to another IOS device (iPad or iPhone) and when you go to that room or speaker, the queue disappears and says “no music”. I watched it in real time by bringing up my Windows Controller app and when using one of iPads to change rooms, the current queue gets totally removed. This is with the newest app dated 7/17 even though it was released yesterday, 7/22. Moderator edit: changed all “playlist” to “queue” for clarity.
Since this useless new app has been released I CAN'T PLAY ANY OF MY PREFERRED RADIO VIA MyTuner!!How on earth are you not able to fix this!??!!??!!!??If you are incapable, just roll back to the previous app and give us our music!!!!! I'm disgusted 🤮🤮🤮🤮
Just wanted to give a little positivity - music library is back to the Android app!Searching the music library is back!PLAYING music from the library without it crashing is back! What's more it seems the menu and features are thought out and aren't simply bare bones. What is not back:Album art on music library tracksSonos playlist creation and editing. But this is listed as a future update and I am a little more positive about the chances it'll be returning.
I just installed the latest iOS app version and it has to be said…The latest version fixes most, if not all, issues I had with the new version. The volume control is now very responsive - as good as before - and I do not get all the nasty error messages that were popping after whatever action I did. I know it should not have happened in the first place but, Sonos does deserves credits here. It is back to the stable app I used to have.Thanks.
I just got my SONOS ONE and it’s been nothing but a pain. Won’t connect to my iPhone 14 this system is junk and customer service is terrible. I can’t believe this overpriced speaker( which by the way I have 2 of them) will not even connect! I’ve tried everything to no avail so disappointed and frustrated with the customer service the bit is useless and a live response is impossible unless you want to wait 65-95 minutes, yes you heard me right 65 minutes the first time I called 95 the 2 time! It’s completely outrageous!!!
I was one of the loudest fans of Sonos after latest software update I can’t stand my system I have to disconnect router and all speakers every time I want to use if not a solution am ready throw all in garbage and go with another system which is an expensive proposition i tried to call customer service said 55 minute wait chat had no one available
My barely two-year old Move stopped charging or working at all. I tried all of the recommended fixes, but it was completely unresponsive. I replaced the battery and tried everything again. Nothing. Sat on hold for an hour to then have a support person walk me through the same steps before telling me that the unit was out of warranty and the only thing she could offer me was 15% off my next Sonos purchase. No repair options available. No replacement options. No information on what they’ve done to fix the issue. Nothing. What a disappointment. From what I can see online, this appears to be a fairly widespread problem with this product. The company should handle it better than by asking for a bunch more money for what could easily be another poorly done product. So, for anyone who can benefit from this, be warned. Buy something else.
I have contacted Sonos 4 times now as not received my UPS shipping label via my email always say resending but getting frustrated now as still nothing speaker packed and ready to go as faulty promised a new one when they get the old one back not sure what to do now
Estoy batallando para conectar la play bar a una nueva red Moderator Edit: Google Translate-I'm struggling to connect the play bar to a new network
When will the app do better? My issues overal not workingNot finding my system everytime it starts upNot able to find last items played Not finding favoritesNot able to adjust volumeI always used the Sonos app with spolltify now O use Spotify again and Yess mot able to group devices..Me and My Sonos devices and apps go way back... But the Experience is not very nice at the moment...I hope it will improve fast. Harvey
In the new “upgraded” app, the “Edit Home” button doesn’t work correctly. It lets me modify things, like removing old “favorites” or pinned items, but then the next time I open the app, it’s all there again. It also keeps removing my Music Library, which is the main functionality how I use Sonos. Recently, it completely removed it, and after about an hour of reading the community posts, I figured out that I could re-enable my Music Library on the Windows App, thereby allowing me to access it again on my Android app. Is there a plan to fix the “Edit Home” so that your edits actually stay?
I am just at the end of my tether . Today both android apps keep crashing and I can't access anything. My imac where my local library is now says access denied . I spent 48 hours weeks ago getting the damn thing to recognise my library. Got it to work and now today the whole thing is playing up. I can't play anything from my local library. It's saying access denied AGAIN. WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON !!!!!! IM SO ANGRY WITH WASTING MY TIME FIXING BUGS AND ISSUES CAUSED BY THIS NEW APP ITS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING AND RIDICULOUS. SONOS , YOU SHOULD HAVE ALLOWED PEOPLE TO REVERT BACK TO THE S2 APP WHILE YOU GET YOUR ACT INTO GEAR AND SORT OUT THIS DEBACLE. WE AS CONSUMERS SHOULDN'T BE HAVING TO DEAL WITH YOUR ISSUES CAUSED BY AN ARROGANT ATTITUDE TOWARDS YOUR CUSTOMER BASE . SHAME ON YOU !!!!
