Music Library Compilation Issue under new 16.3 Firmware

Today I successfully updated to the latest 16.3 Firmware and Windows Desktop Controller.
I subsequently performed an “Update Music Library Now” from the 16.3 Windows Desktop Controller.
Now any Sonos Controller (including SonoPhone, SonoPad) show multiple entries for each compilation album when viewing Albums.
Just an example shown below...

Does anyone else have this issue?
Ross.

Hi @rosswells127 et al

I have an update regarding this behaviour.

It is (now) expected behaviour that if you have a compilation album with no Album Artist metadata tagged on an S2 system, it will appear in the album list multiple times. To resolve this issue, please tag all tracks in the album with an Album Artist - if there is no single artist, please tag each track in the album with “Various Artists”. Once an album has a Album Artist tag, it will no longer appear as duplicates in the Album container list.

I hope this helps.

I have had the same problem…  Updated the controller software on Friday, re-indexed and now I have multiple copies of albums, each containing one or two tracks (or none) and in a seemingly random order..  I spent an hour with a member of the Support Team this morning who remoted into my machine in order to try to sort it, but in the end told me that there was nothing he could do.  It is so frustrating and disappointing and I must admit that I am about to throw in the towel with the whole thing...

Update the app later today when the new version rolls out, as that is meant to address music library search and playback issues. You never know your luck.

Compilations remain an issue, I believe, but I also read that as this issue was only raised recently it won’t have made it into this update. But I’m sure someone will be along with an official answer!

Hi @Eejay60

We are aware and are investigating. I have no ETA for a resolution, however.

Last week there was a firmware update that affected some people’s systems. But have you also updated the app to yesterday’s latest version from your app store, which might provide the cure? If it doesn’t, Library compilation issues have been raised and noted by Sonos, as you’ll have seen in this thread.

I will do that - can I test it after I have reinstalled the app on just one device (like my laptop), to see if it solves the problem by checking it on the laptop, or will I need to reinstall on all devices before seeing if it worked?  Thank you very much, Chris D

@cdiani
Hi Chris. As per Corry P from Sonos (see above), they are aware of a bug to do with Compilation albums appearing multiple times. It was introduced with Firmware update 16.3. So I don’t think there is anything you can do to fix this yourself. We are all hoping that they fix this soon, but I suspect it is down their current priority list.

Ross.
