Controllers & Music Services

It seems not possible to have new songs just released by 1 music service to have them play all at the same volume level.  The excuse because the songs were from original cd’s, MP3’s… is just not holding up anymore. Is Sonos going to solve this problem please?  It’s terribly annoying.Thank you

Hi,I am currently considering a Sonos Set (with Arc Ultra, SubG4, and two Era 300s) vs a Sony Theatre Quad with SW5 sub and I am trying to determine the pros and cons. In this thread I’d like to focus on Airplay 2 vs Sonos Multiroom.- Are there any advantages using Sonos for multi room over Airplay enabled speakers/systems of comparable sound quality?Previously I think the advantage was Airplay did not transmit Dolby Atmos, but Apple have said it will be added in Airplay in iOS18 (here’s the press release: https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2024/06/updates-to-the-home-experience-elevate-entertainment-and-bring-more-convenience/)Am curious to hear your thoughts I am very new to Sonos.

Sonos is so unreliable. If I'm lucky enough to get a room to play. Isn't change tunes or change rooms. Then it will not switch off or let me adjust the volume. I fed up having to reset every thing to get then to work even then it's lucky if the do work

I have been a great Sonos fan for 15 years or more, and bought so many of your products. But now I had enough. How can you continue to provide such utterly abysmal software? It just never ends

Ever since I updated the Sonos app, I am experiencing this annoying glitch with it: I click on a station and when I hit “play” I get this error message, “Something wrong. Try again”. This is happening about half the time and I use this app several times a day. My playlists, podcasts, news, sports and more go through one or more of my “rooms”. (I have 11 speakers/devices in my home. Can anyone help?ThanksM Klein

My Music Library no longer plays. The suffix m4a has beeb added to each title and they just scan through when started. I have read all I can online to no avail.

Allowed the Sonos tech to take control of my computer for about an hour or so.  He could not get my local library back.  I managed to fix it myself after the May update wrecked all access to my library.  Then the last update wrecked it again and even the Sonos tech cannot get it back.  So my system is now useless. Yet - I don’t see a lot of comments about this…..? Maybe I should try another teck at Sonos?

Can someone please help? tThere was an update on Sonos app , 3 days ago. and its not appearing on my play store. i have uninstalled and reinstalled app. Still no update , I have galaxy s23, not sure why there is no update in play store .

I’ve just tried to use Sonos but the app has gone back to the September version on both my phone and tablet(Android)  I have reinstalled but still on version 80.09.04 and my music library has disappeared. I have the latest software installed on both devices. This is so frustrating. Any ideas before I bin Sonos for good?

I have updated to the Apps/Controller/Firmware. The Music library indexing on my NAS now looks very strange. There are duplicate entries for many Albums. The Songs are not ordered correctly within the albums. It seems to be related to the fields for Album Artist and Contributing Artist though that is not conclusive.I have my files organised into:\\Sonos\Music\Artist\Album\Songs(with Track No. at beginning i.e. “01 Song Name” ).This has worked for many years now.Can anybody help with a description on how the the files and details within the MP£ files should be done or is this just another bug introduced by Sonos within their software? Will they ever get a release right! Also the advanced settings for the Music Library are missing from the IOS app. On the PC I have the Group Albums by Album Artist set. Sort Songs by song number, Contributing Artists is not ticked.Any help would be appreciated.Chris

My Music Library (on a NAS drive) is not accessible (again - it was back for a few days in late October) from my iPhone/iPad Sonos app.I can see and access it  from my MacOS app (and my playlists), and am able to play albums, playlists from MacOS, but the library just isn’t visible from the iPad or iPhone.I’ve tried rebooting all the devices, and checked that the apps are up to date. I tried deleting and re-entering the share path to the share on both the iPhone and iPad://IAN-MEDIA-SERVE/Public/Shared Music   (no uername/passwored needed)(this is the same path used on the MacOS App).but I get the error message “Unable to Connect - check the username and password”There is no username and password for this path ….. .

Have had my Sonos system in my house for 7years, and the recent poor app has been annoying but is it getting worse? Yesterday, attempted to ask Google nest to play the radio station on the pair of Play 3 speakers in the kitchen and was told there wasn’t any devices..  Looked at my Sonos app and had a blank screen saying “Not Connected”, as in no devices connected.  Thought, it was due to an update in the app, so reset 4 out 5 Sonos devices and reconnected to my Sonos app.  All was good again, and hoped that things would get better within the Sonos ecosystem system!? This morning, opened the Sonos app…… Not Connected….? Really Sonos? My Playbar and one of my Play3 has a wired Ethernet connection and have recently stopped over to Alta Labs AP’s. i loved my Sonos system, but if this is going to be a daily occurrence, it’s time to bin the lot!

Sonos, your software sucks. I have 20k worth of your products, you are the best speaker system company in the history of stereos, and you can’t get your software together. Please do better. I say this to all my friends and rental guests. I don’t think this makes them run out to buy your products. If there is a human reading this you can tell I am a very frustrated customer who feels burned after committing to your brand.

I just wanted to post these issues I’m having with my Music Library which are driving me crazy.  I have hundreds of albums and I primarily use my Sonos system to play my own music rather that stream from one of the providers.  Here are my problems:Why is there no grid view of my albums? A grid view looks so much better that this list view.  Maybe you can ask Apple how they get the grid view in Apple Music if you are unsure of what needs to be done to achieve this. Still no alphabet at the side to allow me to jump to say, my Yahoo album.  It’s painstaking to scroll through an entire list to get to an album close to the end of the list. Compilation albums are appearing as individual songs in album view.  Many of my albums are compilation and this is unacceptable.  It’s rubbish, to be honest. Please, Sonos, address these matters so that I can start enjoying my music system again.

Cover art stored in flat files aren't bring displayed in the current app, and I can't create my own playlists from my library of music stored on a Nas box

It’s not clear to me what the best way is to report bugs, and perhaps get them fixed. Many people have been complaining about the bug that was introduced over a month ago that makes it almost impossible to use sonos to play “albums” where track have different artist assignments. The new version 16.3.3 does not fix this.Is there anything we can that more productive than grumbling on this forum?(Not that this is a bug in the device firmware, not in the controller software).

So far, I am having the same troubles as discussed in the following topic:https://en.community.sonos.com/controllers-and-music-services-229131/connecting-to-updated-wifi-on-new-app-factory-reset-6903935?tid=6903935&fid=229131This is happening since the new app version came in last May 2024, and I needed to move to another network. In fact, since last June, I am using my Sonos system wired. This is terrible when you buy a device that tells you that they sell “the best wireless sound ever built”. Fortunately, only one device must be wired, as its own network do the rest.I contacted Sonos assistance, and they guided me to factory reset, then I could start all my devices wirelessly without worries. Indeed, this is exactly what I don´t want to do, as I would lose all my configurations and so on. They also told me this situation would be solved soon in a new update, but until now nothing changed. So, if I turn off the wired device, no Sonos work. If I try to guidance to update wifi, I stop

I have been a long time Sonos user I have 17 products. The new app is horrible and I am losing total functionality. I have so much invested, but I hate to go away. why does the new app sucks so bad? I mean it is unbelievable how different it was from the previous experience. It’s like they are trying to drive away customers

As a loyal Sonos user for over 10 years, I have to say the latest updates have been incredibly disappointing. The app has become slower and more unresponsive, and the speakers themselves seem to lag behind commands. This is despite having a fast fiber-optic internet connection and relatively new smartphones. We’re no longer willing to support a system that seems to be declining in quality. And we’re not alone. Many long-time users are reporting the same frustrations with recent updates: sluggish performance, delays in responsiveness, and a generally worse user experience, even when the hardware and internet are more than capable. It feels like the once-reliable software development at Sonos has taken a back seat in recent years, which is baffling to those of us who once praised the system for its ease of use and stability. Another frequent complaint is the recurring incompatibility between new app versions and older speaker models. A while back, Sonos faced backlash for their plan to p

Hi, After Sonos' awesome systems update, some radio stations no longer play from the Sonos app. I wrote to support via chat, where they said to call by phone. I called technical support, where I hung up on the phone for several hours with no result. In the end, the tech rep collected the contact information and said they would escalate the issue. Several weeks around and all are gone. :) Very good customer service!

As mentioned in another post. Sonos alarm never seems to be able to turn on the radio. Instead it goes for a chime. The suggestion in the post is super annoying. Try to wake the system up. The problem isn’t that the radio is unavailable it is just not able to connect or something. But when I turn off the chime the radio always works! Like always. Why don’t Sonos wait 30 seconds for the radio to be switched to Chime. Because the chime noise is perhaps the most annoying thing ever to get awoken by. This morning I also tried the idea of waking the network. So it has been super awake. It’s just Sonos which is slow. Please fix this.

Hey, all - now that Apple Lossless is released for some Sonos products, it’s time to consider an upgrade. My current listening set-up is a stereo pair of Play:3s with a sub (gen 2).Given that Apple Lossless will not play over Play:3s, I am ready to upgrade to a pair of 5s.My question is: if I connect my gen 2 sub to the pair of 5s, will that negate the ability to play Apple Lossless?

Is anyone suddenly having a problem connecting to Apple Music?  Neither the iPhone nor the PC Sonos app is connecting.  The PC app shows a black screen with “We’ve run into a problem.  Try again.”  The iPhone app shows “An error occurred with Apple Music.  Try again later.”  This first occurred October 15.  Multiple resets results in the same problem and same error messages.  BTW, there is no problem with Apple Music.  Apple Music plays immediately and dependably from all Apple devices.

I was happy today because my Sonos app on my phone worked and I was able to play my music from my library, the reason I spent the kind of money I spent on the system.  So because I was happy today and decided to see just how unhappy and frustrated I could get, I decided to run my Sonos desktop controller.  I was expecting to need to update the app but what I got was “We found Sonos on your network” message.  So if the app sees my Sonos system why would it not automatically connect?  Good question but I clicked on “Let’s connect” and found that it can’t connect.  Cant connect to the system that the app knows is there (over and over with the try again click).  Go figure.  Click on the link for firewall help and my firewall isn’t listed.  And so now I can spend the next three hours on the phone with tech support or rebooting endlessly just to find out Sonos changed something useless to the system just to piss me off.  Anybody have any suggestions?

Just adding one more extremely annoyed and frustrated user to the group. My 12-device system disappeared from the app today and can’t be reconnected despite following the factory reset procedure. It’s not my wifi network since every other device on that network is working fine. After seeing the numerous other folks with similar unresolved issues  i too am looking for a replacement.  Any recommendations for alternatives to this now useless Sonos collection of doorstops?
