Since an inadvertent lapse allowed my two Play 1 speakers to be updated a few weeks ago, I have no longer been able to use my S2 App which I had previously been very happy with. I have been using the Windows Desktop App to play my music. Not very convenient but it least it works. Or it did until today. Now it says it has found my system but clicking ‘Lets connect’ never works. See below screenshots.

Have SONOS changed something else without me knowing again??

Any help or ideas would be appreciated? I have completely lost faith in SONOS which I previously loved for many years.

I tried chatting to support but after answering a long list of questions the bot decided it couldn’t help me and basically shut my issue down. How to win friends and influence people - NOT.

Have you wired any of the speakers to the network?

Thanks for the reply. No I haven’t. And to be honest I don’t really want to waste my time messing about trying things .

I just wondered if anyone knew if Sonos has applied some other ‘update’ that might have caused this issue. I know I haven’t changed anything at my end.

This “feature” has been there for a while, just ignore it.

Right now I am ignoring it, but that means I can't play any music on the speakers. So at some point I will have to do something to try and fix unless it somehow sorts itself.

It makes no sense to me that it can see the speakers but then can't connect to them. Surely they must be on the network for it to see them?

Hi @Sherlock31

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Sorry to hear about this issue you are having with getting connected with the Desktop Controller. To be clear, you should still be able to do so.

It’s possible that Windows has identified your network as being “new” for some reason and has defaulted to assuming it is a Public network - this would result in what you see. Please see this article as the most comprehensive list of instructions I could find on the subject: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/6815-set-network-location-private-public-domain-windows-10-a.html

I recommend rebooting your computer afterwards.

It’s also possible that a reboot of your router would help - please switch it off for at least 30 seconds.

I hope this helps.

What are the lights on the Play:1 doing? Flashing white?

Thanks for all the replies - back working again. Don't know why it happened but I think I did reboot my PC for something else so maybe this fixed it.

Ian - the lights were solid white.

Of course 'back working again' only apples via the Windows app  not the criminally dysfunctional 'new' phone app.
