I think that means an issue with your Mac connecting properly to your speakers, to show the data originating on the speakers. I assume it is working fine on your mobile device?

yes works fine on my mobile device.  however can't figure out how to get them to play via my Mac.  have to find my phone to start it up.  Dont even get me started on my music on my Mac.  can play that either through my Sonos speakers.  says can't find the path.  Ive just about given up on that as well.

Hmmm. Not sure I understand all the issues here. It sure sounds like you haven’t downloaded the proper Sonos controller from the Sonos website, or perhaps updated your Sonos speakers to the latest firmware version.

Setting up the path should be a relatively easy task. Have you called Sonos Support directly to discuss the issues you’re experiencing?

When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
