Every time I add new music to iTunes and then try to update my Library it vanishes - the path shows in my settings etc but all artists/albums vanish - and when I ‘update’ it takes about two seconds to update and nothing has changed.

It was all working OK this morning - then added some new CDs to iTunes, and first it said the path was no longer available, which is rubbish - why would it have changed? I checked, and all sharing settings are as they were.

I’m using an iMac BTW.

That’s definitely odd. I assume you’ve followed all the changes/setups mentioned in this thread.

I think I’d recreate the issue, making the path unavailable, then submit a system diagnostic, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. But don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, they get sensitive about GDPR.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Hi,

Yes, have tried all that, thanks.

Since posting my question I had managed my library back up to 9460 songs and thought things might be solved, but added another 50 or so CDs today, and after updating the Music Library via Sonos and now only have 4609 songs.

What. The. Actual… why would it only find half of what was there before…??

The really strange (and in no way annoying) thing is that some of the new songs are being found - but (for the sake of an example) all 5 Queen albums I’d added are not (no laughing at the back :o).

So it’s altogether beyond annoying.

I’ve tried the Sonos helpdesk before and have not found them particularly helpful. I can’t afford to sit for ages on the phone to them. The simple fact is there product worked with no problem before their update, and now it doesn’t.

I am seriously considering taking all my Sonos kit to the dump and investigating another form of streaming music - they have definitely lost me as a paying customer.

This happens to me about once a month. This is what I do.

Open the Sonos controller on your Mac, Open Manage Music settings, itemise the music library and click on the minus sign to delete it.

Then, when its all deleted, click on the plus sign and add it back, if it’s locally stored, click on Music folder, then click on the lock and it will reload all of the miusic file for you. I’m pretty sure this is a file sharing issue and either Apple or Sonos alter this. it will take about half an hour to Re-Index the music library, but at the end it should all work. You’re not deleting any music files, just the link, which you’re re-setting.

This is happening to me. Using the “update music library now” recovers the library. But it disappears hours later and I have to repeat the process. I’ve about given up on Sonos.

If you (and anyone reading this) are continuing to have issues with the Sonos App and/or you see problems with your Sonos library and can easily reproduce the matter, but perhaps haven’t yet contacted Sonos Support, then maybe just give them a call, as the earlier post from @Airgetlam suggests

Here is the link to contact them…

Hi, and thanks for the response.

Sadly I’ve tried this repeatedly as well - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t - like today!!!!

I have been adding stuff to my library the last few days, and all was working fine. I updated the library last night and it worked. Added some bits this morning, clicked update - doesn’t work. I have checked the path, can see the folder and the sub-folders with the new stuff, but Sonos just refuses to find it.

The wheel spins for a few secs then you’re back to where you were  - the path is till showing, but when you click on Music Library, and choose a folder and open it it says ‘No selections are available’.

When they were before I added new stuff…??
