When will Spanish be available for Sonos Voice Control (SVC)?

Hi!
After reading different posts, I’m trying to use SVC to forget the app missing features, like the phone-locked controls. Thanks to @nik9669a for his suggestion and details, because I thought SVC also sent my conversations to the cloud and it seems it doesn’t.

During my first hours trying, I’ve to say that it understands my Spanish-accent English good enough for simple commands. I can turn on the TV and rise the volume, but for me is not natural, as English is not my mother tongue. Also, he (Esposito) never understands the names of my playlists, because they are in Spanish and plays whatever crosses his electronic mind. I’m discovering interesting and very unknown music, by the way 😅, but it is not the topic.

So, I kindly ask Sonos to include Spanish as a new language to speak with SVC. To support that request I’ve to say that Spanish is the second language spoken on Earth (native language) after Mndarin Chinese. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_languages_by_number_of_native_speakers

I can understand that the first choice was English, as many people speaks it as first or second language, but instead the lovely French of my northern neighbours, why didn’t you try Spanish 😬?

Anyway, please try now, because I’m going to drive Esposito crazy together with me.

To moderators: I’ve found a similar thread, but it’s locked. Please, feel free to merge both if you want.

I also write here an issue I’ve discovered when adjusting the SVC, when I try to set the weather location, the app crashes. Have anybody suffer the same?

Edit: I’ve found the right post about the location issue:

I’m going to hazard a guess that SVC will add Spanish as a language at the point at which it becomes profitable for Sonos to do so. Most companies I’m aware of are driven by profit, and not always the perceived value to what they consider to be a small minority. And no judgement from me as to whether they’re right or wrong, but it’s likely in some Product Manager’s list somewhere. A good request, but I’ve no idea if it will receive the same priority that you’d prefer.

484 millions of potential customers seems interesting to me 😅

If they’d all purchase Sonos when they offer Spanish in SVC, I’d agree!

Did all the 74 millions French native speakers buy a Sonos? 😅

In this case I know where to go during Christmas 🇫🇷

I would guess that it’s not just a matter of potential customers, but the cost to implement.  That cost would include paying the voice actors, any language specific development needed, and whatever governmental costs required to operate a voice control service in a country.  It looks like Sonos Voice is only available in the US and France right now, not just any English or French speaking country, so I would think perhaps government regulations are a significant roadblock here.

That said, there shouldn’t be an additional cost to operate in Spanish in the US where there is a large spopulation of Spanish speakers.  Sonos made a Spanish version of their US website, so that fact clearly isn’t lost on them.

SVC is also available in a lot of European countries, including Germany and Austria -- in English & French.

As @Smilja said, SVC is available in Europe, but just recognise English (US) and French languages. If SVC complies the EU regulations for France it also does for Spain or Germany as I assume these regulations are common for all the EU.

I can understand that adapt SVC in a new language costs money, but IMO it’s worth it, at least in Spanish, which is used for so many people, also in the US. And I’m surprised (and a little bit jealous 😬) to know it has been developed in French but not in Spanish.

Edit: I understood wrong the website topic. You’re right! Sonos has a web in Spanish even for the US. so yes, I’m sure that the time when our speakers learn the Cervantes’ language is close!

Yea, I thought it odd, but I didn’t see anything on the website (don’t see SVC on the German or Austria language Sonos website), and Google’s Geminis stated it was only available in US and France.

The information is translated in German, and I’m pretty sure German can use it (if they speak English or French)

It took some time for Mr. Esposito to get used to my thick accent, but now we are best friends. 😃

So this is what I find odd.  In the US, under the learn menu, they link to voice control.

On the German site, they do not.

Yes,  I understand that’s not definitive about what is and isn’t supported.  Just...odd.
