I am trying to play internet radio station TMM 1 (The Music Machine) on my Sonos system (two Symfonisk and one Play 5) using the S1 app on my iPhone, iPad and Windows laptop (all up to date)
It just plays an ad, then “Welcome to TuneIn” then another ad and just keeps repeating. It does similar with TMM 2 and CDNX, but it will play “Radio X London”
I’ve tried powering off all the Sonos units, restarting the router and powering the Sonos back up.
I’ve tried adding the streaming URL using the S1 app on my laptop (Manage > Add radio station); none of the URLs I’ve found will work at all:
The instructions in the link below do not work because the S1 TuneIn integration doesn’t allow me to log in, so does not show the favourites from the iPhone TuneIn app on the Sonos app:
I am sorry to hear that you cannot access “The Music Machine” on your S1 system.
I cannot even find the station on my S2 system - it’s not on TuneIn, Sonos Radio, nor MyTuner.
As a result, I recommend that you contact TuneIn - seeing as the station can be played from the website, it is clearly still operating, but if it cannot be found in a search within the Sonos app, then we cannot assist.
Please be aware that we do know that some stations will fail to play on S1 system and only play ads due to SSL (cryptography) issues, but as I cannot find the station on S2, this does not appear to be one of those cases. Please note, however, that if TuneIn do fix it, the station may still fail on S1 systems for this reason.
For what it is worth, I found “The Music Machine 2” on TuneIn, so it seems that the first station should show.
I hope this helps.
Hi @andykn

It’s listed as per my post as “TMM 1” and “TMM 2” in both Sonos radio and TuneIn on Sonos.
Hi @andykn
As stated, I cannot find TMM1 on S2 - if it does not show up in a search, we cannot assist. I presume you have it saved as a favourite? If so, then that favourite is a link to something that apparently no longer exists.
Again, I recommend you contact TuneIn directly.
I hope this helps.

It definitely shows up in the S1 app
Hi @andykn
Apologies - I was not clear enough.
I am aware that the station shows up in the S1 app. However, as it does not show in the S2 app, it looks like TuneIn have removed it. Please contact TuneIn for further support regarding this issue.
Please be aware that the S1 Sonos systems do not support new TuneIn, and it is only the new version that is updated. Hence, the station shows up in S1 but does not play.
It remains that we cannot assist you with this in any way whatsoever.
I hope this helps.
When you say “it looks like TuneIn have removed it.” from what have they removed it? It shows in the TuneIn App that I only installed yesterday
I think you may not have it in your region, a mate with S2 had just tried and can see it in S2 TuneIn and it plays fine.
Hi @andykn
My Apologies!
I am in the UK, but for some reason, the station only shows up when I search for “TMM", rather than “The Music Machine”. I don’t know why this is.
I was able to search, find and play TMM1 on my S2 system.
Unfortunately, that means that the reason that your S1 system cannot play it is that S1 cannot handle the cryptography to do so. Which means that contacting TuneIn will do you no good, and that this particular station will only play on S2 Sonos systems.
At least, it won’t play via TuneIn or Sonos Radio. The station is listed on MyTuner as well, and it might play on your S1 system from that source. You don’t need an account to add MyTuner to your Sonos system - just add it as a service in the usual way, search for “TMM” and attempt playback.
I hope this helps, and apologies again for the confusion.
FYI you’ve gone far too deep into the problem. If you’d bothered to try ANY of the TuneIn feeds you’d realise this is an issue that’s not related to TMM1. You get the same on the Grim Grimmer Grimmest podcast here in the UK too.
Hi @Captain Biggles
Sorry to hear of the issues you’re having.
Judging by your related thread:
It seems you are discussing Podcasts specifically, which is slightly off-topic for this thread - as far as I am aware, TuneIn stations perform normally (when supported).
The behaviour (short adverts and not playing the requested stream) I’m seeing in the Podcasts is the same as described above for Stations, so worth mentioning IMO
Hi @Captain Biggles
Understood!
Are you also running an S1 system?

“but it will play “Radio X London” “..through TuneIn/S1
Nope, S2. Worked fine before the update FWIW
