Used to be able to control my systems volume with my iPhone keys - not logging into the app. Function stopped working and not sure how to fix it.

It can’t be fixed. Apple changed their policies, and forced Sonos to comply.

Oh, if you use AirPlay 2 to send the signal to the Sonos, rather than using the Sonos app, the buttons will continue to work, because the ‘player’ is on the iOS device, and not the speakers, as the controller works as a remote for the app running on the speakers.
