Question

Using the Sonos app to Add Music from my iTunes Library on my NAS not working?

Just bought a pair of new Eras 100 from COSTCO Canada.  The bluetooth streaming from my phone works just fine.  No luck with the NAS ...

My NAS pathname entered into the app is as follows (in the add music folder section):

\\192.168.xxx.xxx\

Where “xxx” are 1 to 3 numeric digits of the remainder of the full path - it is an IP address of which it is identical on my MacBook and Windwos PCs.

After entering my user ID and password, It won’t let me click/tap done on the screen?  There is no error message.

Am I missing something obvious?
Background: My iPhone is running iOS 26.3; I have a 2024 Macbook Pro with an M4Pro cpu; My NAS is Asus6702T-A613 (18TB, RAID1) using ADM version 5.1.3 and SMB3 highest and SMB2 lowest.

Start here

https://support.sonos.com/en-us/article/add-your-music-library-to-sonos

With just the address of the server you may be missing the SMB path to the files.

I have an iPhone 17 Pro Max running iOS 26.3 and a Synology DS925 NAS.

  • Your path per your post: \\192.168.xxx.xxx\
  • My path: //192.168.xx.xxx/music

The major difference I see is that your path does not indicate the “folder” where music resides on your NAS.

Did you forget to include it (folder) in your post or do you not have a music folder on your NAS?

The IP address only tells Sonos where your NAS is located on your network; but not the exact location of your music.

You might also try reversing the slashes from “back slash” to “forward slash”.

Yes, it should be //192.168.xxx.xxx/music

Once I enter it correctly …

Now the app returned a message of

“//192.168.xxx.xxx/music is no longer available.

This library's device may not be powered on, or the path may have changed.“

My user ID is correct and in fact it would give the same message even if I don’t type in anything in the user id and password box.

Now what??

Now what??

Have you set static IP addresses for the NAS and Era100s? Sounds to me like the IP address for the NAS has changed.

My MacBookPro can mount the network drive at the same IP address … in fact, I suspect my Eras 100 (x2) are not compatible with my Asustor AS6702T … or there is something missing for the Eras 100 to recognize the IP address is correct.

short answer: the IP address is static.

I have both Windows 10 PC and MacBook Pro.  Both access the same NAS without issues.  Is the following a solution (to use the Windows PC and set the NAS sharing??) ….

From the Sonos Support website:

Your NAS drive must be configured to use either the SMBv2 or SMBv3 file sharing protocol in order to share its library with your Sonos system. Consult your NAS drive’s manual for information on how to check or change the SMB setting

Make sure the share is set to SMB v2 or 3 in order for it to work with your speakers.

Ok now it is “scanning for new content” … will let it finish first and then revie /back trace what happened prior to.

I don’t what you did if anything but glad it’s scanning for content. Could have been a temporary connection issue with your phone and/or Sonos app. I’ve found (although not with the same issue) that just stopping the app and restarting it resolves connection issues.
