Issue: Some time ago now, the SONOS App I was using stopped showing album art. Although not a problem at first, I am now very annoyed by this.  Other apps e.g. VLC will show album art for any and all tracks in my personal library (on my NAS). This is due in no small part to me checking every track I have and ensuring that album art is embedded within the .mp3 or .m4a file.

Attempted solutions: 1. Delete/reinstall latest SONOS App on my Android tablet - no difference. 2. Re-link my personal library - App says it’s already synced, no difference. 3. Create a new playlist on the NAS - App sees and plays it, but still no album art. 4. For info, playlists that I have deleted on my PC, still show up in the App as imported playlists. (??? Why ???)

If someone could provide an idiots guide to get my system working again, with album art, I would be very grateful.  If this involves factory resets on my kit, I am prepared to do that.

Thank you,

Fred

Wait for Sonos to fix the problem, nothing you can do.

Have you tried sonophone app if you are on iOS a few have said it works ok but it costs 3-99

Unfortunately, I do not use iOS.

Very disappointing to hear that it is still down to SONOS to fix it.  Their CEO keeps banging on about the great progress they’re making with the App.  I guess that everything is streamed these days. Not my scene!!!

I didn’t upgrade my app but I have moved on myself I got a WiiM ultra and plugged in to my 5 and use that for my music

I am a streamer but since I got the ultra I plugged an ssd drive with all my music on it and have used that 👍

In hindsight I have fallen into the trap set by SONOS to update to the latest version of their controller - S2.

After being prompted to upgrade S1 for some time, because it said all my kit was compatible with S2, in a moment of weakness I did it.  That’s when the trouble started.

As I said earlier, the first thing I noticed was that album art was no longer being displayed and my library was not reflecting new entries. Not a show stopper, but an annoyance. Thinking it might be a broken link to my library, I decided to delete and recreate the link. Wrong! For the past two weeks I have had no access at all to my library, only ‘Access denied’ messages when I try to link it with S2.

Having tried everything I could think of, I came to this site for answers. Sad to say, the first answer appears to be the only solution - wait for SONOS to fix it!

Ah well, I’ll roll back to S1.  Not that easy. S2 installs software on each speaker making it unusable by S1. To get my system working again with S1, each speaker had to be factory reset then downgraded by S2 to enable it to be reconfigured by S1.

Having finally got my system back together and usable how I want it, the S1 app still keeps nudging me to update to S2. Apparently, there is no way to remove this banner apart from having a piece of kit in my system that is only compatible with S1.  I am not going down that route to find out!

Finally, if you are a SONOS user that only plays your own music or indeed wants to continue to play your own music as well as streaming from various commercial servers, my advice would be to stick with S1.

IF IT AIN’T BROKE, DON’T FIX.

For the IOS app the local library album art is only missing in the queue.

 Where does your library reside?

Isn’t album art the price of entry on a music management app? For all their flailing around, if Sonos doesn’t get this one right, then we’ve got to believe that those directing Sonos just aren’t music enthusiasts. Which is really odd -- but it may explain a lot.
