I recently moved in to a house with 4 old Sonos Play 1 speakers attached to the home. There’s 4 of them. The old owners also left a Sonos boost as there’s a considerable lag between controls and the Sonos Play 1s.
I’m trying to maximise the use of the Play 1s and reckon the best thing that they lack is an airplay feature [we all use Apple products in our home]
I’m wondering if I can give these Play1s some soft of a semblance of Airplay capabilities by purchasing a Sonos beam Gen½ then group it into 5 groups:
A- Sonos Beam + Play1A
B- Sonos Beam + Play 1 B
C- Sonos Beam + Play 1 C
D - Sonos Beam + Play 1D
E- Sonos Beam
A-D will have the Sonos Beam muted. Then when I want to airplay say YouTube video I do it to A if I want Play1a to play it.
My questions are;
- Will this work?
- If I am air playing to group A, can someone use the Sonos Beam (Group E) independently?
Thanks in advance!
