I used to have a Cocktail Audio X10 device connected as my Sonos Music Library to stream my 50,000+ tracks. This stopped working some while ago and I believe it is to do with it using SMBv1.

Since then I have connected the X10’s back-up 2TB drive and connected it via a USB hard drive bay and set it as a share and then mapped it to Sonos as my Music Library. Two days ago this worked, but it was my back-up drive that was out of date I wanted to use the actual X10 drive. I removed this, set up the share and defined it to Sonos. Nothing, it does not seem to recognise it even though it is shared and defined correctly. Tried back to the back-up drive and that does not work now either. The only thing that does work is if I define the music directory on my laptop, which only has a few albums in it..

Any suggestions to resolve gratefully accepted as I currently am unable to listen to all my  music.

Beyond my skill level, maybe call support who can see internal data we users can't and have them walk you through the setup.

Got round the issue by copying the hard drive to a WD Passport usb device (2TB). Set it as a share and then mapped it in the Sonos app. All fine.

Until this morning when it had disappeared from the app ☹️ Have had to redefine and is now doing a refresh which takes forever as there are 50,000+ tracks in the library.

Did you set the WD to have a static ip addresses and name?

Sometimes DHCP refreshes confuse things so setting them is an easy way to eliminate that possible issue. See your router's DHCP settings page, only takes a minute to do.

No as I wouldn't know how to give a disk drive an IP address.

Look at the router's DHCP settings page, it should have instructions and a list of your active network devices that you can add names and addresses for.

Lost me now. I can see active connections, but the drive isn’t one of them. Just phone, TV, solar panels, car charger, iPad,  etc.

Ah, is the WD's drive bay connected through another device, I was thinking the USB drive bay was network connected? I may have missed that, my old WD connected over Ethernet.

Connecting through another device is more complicated, what are you connecting through, someone is likely to have a suggestion.

The device is just connected to my laptop by USB port.

Windows or Mac?

Windows 11

Not a Windows user,

but I've seen posts mentioning setting the network to private, drive going to sleep, using the computer IP address instead of name and path too long or having characters causing issues.

The Support FAQ has several articles.

Quite frustrating when it worked and now doesn't, something got changed that you didn't/can't see.

Working ok this morning so lets see how it goes. Thanks for all the advice and links to FAQ’s.
