Want to raise some issues because the user experience is dreadful. It was fine when we had two speakers and it was my partner who set up the account first even though they were my speakers I bought them. First thing was when I went and bought another speaker I wasn’t the account holder and couldn’t add it to my house! Ridiculous.

On my Android phone the app was buggy and hell and wasn’t loading which is why we did it on his phone. Not realising how insane it is that I cannot set up my own later and pair the two speakers because we want different system set ups. I don’t want to log into the account and see his stuff. Is there no concept of Data protection at Sonos?

Now again the system has grown to 10 speakers. Some speakers are to be shared - communal living areas. Other’s like our own offices and workshops separate. All part of the same house. We do not want to have 3 systems. Plus be able to get up a subset as guest access to share with friends.

The problems we are having and with the app not working ½ the time makes account switching a pain in the butt. It’s a simple thin that I should be able with one email address to have multiple uses to it. And a drop to access. Instead of remembering which email is which system.

I am not at the point where I am thinking if something comes a long better I will rip the whole system out and start again. I cannot take the roam speakers out with me because I cannot pair to it even though I own it. Cannot plug and play with another system.

Hi @Windahl

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

I am sorry to hear that you have had issues with your account. I confess I do not entirely understand all of your post, but I will try to address your points.

Sonos is designed as a multiroom speaker solution - you can add multiple speakers to a single system, and you can add multiple systems to one account. What the system is not designed to do is have two separate systems cohabit the same network. It can be done if one system is S1 and the other S2, but two systems of the same type cannot work on one network.

Please note that if you sign in to the account to which the speakers are registered, you should have no issues with adding more speakers. While any Sonos account can sign in to any Sonos system, it is only if you sign in with the account to which the speakers are registered do you have any authority to alter the system. With the previous app, we often had to correct situations where Sonos-owning visitors to a home would “mess-up” someone’s system, to the point where they’d need assistance to fix it. Restricting the ability to perform certain tasks to those who are signed in with the correct account is probably here to stay as a result of this.

The problems we are having and with the app not working ½ the time makes account switching a pain in the butt. It’s a simple thin that I should be able with one email address to have multiple uses to it. And a drop to access. Instead of remembering which email is which system.

We do hear you in regards to the app being buggy, but that has largely been resolved now. Work does continue, though, and things will continue to improve.

You can use a single account to register multiple systems, and you can switch between them. Perhaps you could elaborate on this point?

I cannot take the roam speakers out with me because I cannot pair to it even though I own it. Cannot plug and play with another system.

I don’t understand this - the Roam needs no account credentials to pair with Bluetooth. Have you followed the steps on our Pair Sonos Roam with Bluetooth help page? If so, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

Roam is designed to be a portable speaker, but none of our speakers will join another Sonos system registered to another account through nothing more than close proximity, and this is by design.

I hope this helps.
