Hi there

I checked my sonos devices in my current s1 environment and they should all be compliant with latest sonos app as per sonos own compability page.

i get an error stating that there are uncompable device on my system therefore the system upgrade cannot be done.

Anyone knows how to deal with this?

My devices are: Amp, Beam (gen 1) and a play:1.

An old device - Connect 1 is listed on my sonos login but has been removed from the system a while ago.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

addition: after starting the s1 app and ran system compability - it said that I have an old connect 1 - and asked if I would ever need this on my system - I answered NO and then I was send to download the new app version. Doing this it still complains of incompatible device though…

I`m guessing that somehow the connect 1 stills blocks behind the scenes… anyone know a trick to get past this obstacle? Have tried the power off on the devices….

The retired CONNECT will be associated with your account, but should not be visible in the controller. If necessary force closing the controller should resolve this, if not then reset the controller.

At one point there was an issue upgrading PLAY:1 to S2. This was fixed with an update. Make sure that your S1 system is up to date.

If this fails, selectively power down each unit and force close the controller. This should allow you to discover which unit is causing the issue. You can then upgrade the other units to S2. All of your music service registrations, SONOS Playlists, etc. will be brought forward to S2.

Maybe the stubborn unit will upgrade at this point. If not, I would Factory Reset (only) that unit and add it to your system. Take care at this point and do not setup a new system. It’s too easy to click the wrong button and this will cause lots of pain.

Edit: I suggest that you wire the unit to your network as you add it.

Hi and thanks for the reply.

i believe the s1 was fully updated before I started (see edit to my first post - maybe I`m stuck with the s2 now that the s1 app has accepted the compability when remowing the connect 1…?)

I`m kinda worried to be held up with a system refusing one of my devices causing a new spend of money on devices I dont want to exchange.

Do you use a Bridge? The Bridge is not S2 compatible.

You’ve probably been through this, but it’s worth checking. It’s a slight alternate to my discovery process.

I dont use a bridge.

I have tried the s1 compability check and it ended up with accepting that my devices were ready for s2… but the s2 app will not accept the connection…

damn this is frustrating…

also tried to keep the play:1 off while updating - no difference…

S2 came out a long while back. It’s possible the jump from S1 to the current S2 is too big a step to do in one. You may need to get an “interim” update step from Sonos Support. Call them and see what they say.

Hi. Just for the info:

I got help from support today and ended up on s2.

proces was manual reset of the devices and adding the to s2 app.

there were some decisions on the way- I recommend contacting support if you are in doubt yourself.

I appreciate all answers.

kind regards thomas

Glad you’re sorted; enjoy!
