Since the update to macOS Tahoe I have been unable to connect to the Mac Sonos app. I have re-installed the app but that has made no difference. I spoke with an agent on Sonos chat and he said as the update had only just happened that might be the reason. I thought that’s why Apple released beta versions so cos could sort out any problems prior to the general release. It’s working fine on my iphone that was updated at the same time
I just went into System Settings..etc... and toggled off/on the Sonos tab….It works now….go figure...
Figures. Apple have real trouble handling this app setting boolean, for some reason.
MacOS Tahoe 26.0 is getting all the credit (tongue in cheek) for the desktop app not working. Many of you have found simple solutions in the MacOS system settings for Sonos by toggling permissions on/off. That’s great!
However, you should know that I had the same problem with the desktop App not working in the previous version of MacOS. As it turns out (with the help of the Mod’s contacting Sonos engineering) the solution was to turn on UPnP in the Sonos mobile app under Privacy & Security.
Just want All to know that while the act of toggling permissions on/off for Sonos in MacO System Settings has worked there is another possibility to check in case the “toggling” doesn’t work.
My UPnP was already enabled in my iPhone app. Tried to toggle off then on and did not make the connection to connect to my existing network in macOS 26. Toggling the permissions didn’t help either. I have updated the system controllers from the iPhone app.
Fix the problem by trashing the Sonos controller app on macOS and installing it again. It asked me if the app could have local network access which I didn’t see after I installed macOS 26. Seems random. I saw this problem on my M2, but not on my M4. My friend saw it on his M2 and not on his M4. Both machines had the Sonos app enabled for local network access in the Settings, but Sonos controller didn’t see the network. Weird.

Not weird at all. The implementation from Apple of the “local network” permission on MacOS is as broken as it was when it first came out on iOS.
This was happening to me as well, and I had everything set fine according to (e.g. Firewall is turned off - https://support.sonos.com/en-us/article/configuring-macos-firewall).
What fixed it was Settings / Privacy & Security / Local Network. Sonos was already turned on - I toggled it off and then back on again, and the app was able to connect.
I seem to remember doing this a few months ago with Sequoia as well.
Thankfully I can always access via my phone or iPad, plus via the web at https://play.sonos.com/en-us/web-app - but it’s nice to have the local Mac app working again.
Worked for me too, thanks!
Mac mini, two Play Ones, Beam with TV.
All work fine with iOS Sonos App.
I found a workaround for the Mac Mini, but I don't like it. I have to select the speakers identified in the Sound Settings of the Desktop Controller - that yin-yang looking think in the top bar. This must be using Airdrop or Bluetooth to connect to the Sonos pair, but it works.
My primary dislike is my Bose speakers, plugged in to the headphone jack on the Mini must be non functional during music playback. My volume setting for music is very low (background) and I use the Bose speakers for short YouTube clip video sound. Now I have to switch from Sonos to the Headphone option in the speaker list. Irritating, but it works.
Sonos should rectify this asap. Maybe a new app, S3 is needed? I dunno.
What yin-yang thing are you referring to? Please send a picture.
The desktop app is not using AirPlay or Bluetooth as a native connection.
If you plug headphones into the MacMini it is expected that audio to speakers would be cut.

That yin-yang thing is what I think is the desktop control, always visible at the top of the screen in the narrow bar to the right of the Spotlight search magnifier. consists of a pair of stacked ovals. When clicked it activates controls to select wifi, screen and sound settings among other things.
My Bose speakers are plugged in to the headphone jack.
Probably the local network permissions under the privacy settings. They tend to get reset after macOS updates. This time after the update to Tahoe I had to grant them again for the Spotify app.
Did the trick for me, thx for this tip!
Still not understanding your issue and how it involves Sonos. If in the picture below with the red rectangle is what you are calling yin-yang; that is part of MacOS. It has nothing directly to do with Sonos. That is your MacOS control center with short cuts to options you can select without opening System Settings. Furthermore what does Bose speakers plugged into your headphone jack on the MacMini have to do with Sonos?

AjTrek1
Yes, that is correct. That control centre short cut opens among other things the Sound settings. Clicking the right arrow in Sound opens my list of available outputs. Typically I would have the headphones selected on my M4 iMac Mini so my legacy Bose computer speakers will be used for sound output - they are not wifi compatible.
For background music, I have a pair of Sonos Ones, again about 5 years old. They were activated by the Sonos S2 App which currently is unable to find my system through all the gyrations I performed from suggestions in this thread.
My workaround involves replacing the Bose speakers in the Control Centre sound control by selecting the speakers in my office. It is one or the other. Without the App, my music is selected from radio selections in Apple Music.
When previously I had the Sonos mini player in a corner of my monitor I now have to either select Sound from the control centre or have the Apple Music app open on my screen to alter volume and playback. Irritating as I came to like having the mini player and want it back. Hope this makes more sense
I see your post has somehow been marked as “Best Answer” so I have to assume your issue is resolved. Enjoy your Sonos!
Hopefully Sonos is as dissatisfied with my solution as I am. My work around is just that, an interim answer until Sonos improves or replaces S2. There also still exists control via iOS on my iPhone.
Getting lost in this is my preference for the warmth sound Sonos products deliver for most musical genres. The Sonos App enables better access to international and far reaching obscure artists well beyond North America. I find S2 easier to search for content who otherwise would be undiscovered.
And yes, thanks, I do enjoy my Sonos
