Updated internet that had Sonos system and now is saying it equipment needs an update. I click update and app says update failed with no error code. (Help not available)I am assuming equipment is too old for new software. Can I bypass update and use as is? It is now stuck in a loop saying needs an update-won’t update.

@CareB

A common fix for failed updates is to run the update from the Windows or Mac app, downloadable from the Sonos website.

A full reboot, Sonos, router and controller device before the update may also help

@CareB - Can you clarify “updated internet”, do you mean you changed router?

I changed my internet to Starlink instead of Lockett. Updating on my Mac fixed it!!  So thank you!!  My only remaining issue is my tv is not playing through Sonos speakers. When I adjust volume sound goes through Sonos speakers but after 5 seconds sound goes back to tv speakers. Any suggestions ? Choice for sound on tv is tv speakers or optical? Not sure what that is. I am not super tech saaby!!

Pull all HDMI cables, power down* TV and Sonos for a couple minutes, power up TV and Sonos and try the setup steps again.

*Clarification: Pull the power cords from the wall on both TV and Sonos.

Note: ‘power down’ doesn’t mean with the remote, which really just puts the TV to sleep, waiting for the next command from the remote. Power down really means unplugging the TV from the wall, for at least two minutes.
