Trouble with grouping speakers

I cannot get my Roam and Pay:1 to group. When I try to group them it says “Unable to group, try again later”. What gives? I updated the Sonos app and the Spotify app. Both speakers are connected to my wifi. Very frustrating. This used to work.

I updated the software on the Roam and now they are grouped (and it was a Play:1). Thanks!

Can you post a screenshot of the Grouping error?

With which speaker are you starting the group?

Are the speakers connected to the same frequency band i.e. 2.4GHz or 5GHz?

It probably doesn't make adifference, but your post refers to a Play:1 but you have tagged for Sonos One. Which is it?

That would have been my suggestion. I've seen it mentioned in this community the Roam can miss updates when in sleep mode and will refuse to group unless updated. If possible Sonos could mention this when supplying a fault message.

Agree, I did not see that suggestion anywhere in my searching. I ended up searching for how to update Roam software as a last ditch effort and it worked.
