Tidal connect playback with Sonos - bitrate settings

If I change the audio and playback settings in the Android tidal app does that also change the bitrate of Sonos playback when using Tidal connect? My understanding is that it doesn't and that Sonos will use the highest bitrate file available for the Tidal subscription being used; but as for some bizarre and unhelpful reason Sonos S1 (does S2 still do this?) keeps the bitrate of a playing track a secret, it's hard to know for sure? Anyone know the answer to this?

Since you’re using Tidal Connect, and not the Sonos interface, perhaps it would make sense to ask Tidal?

Since I don’t use Tidal, either way, I have no confirmation or denial.

How did you come to this understanding?

If bit rates are important to you, should you not hear the difference?

Thanks for the replies. Your hearing the difference point is a good one, particularly relevant in my view with the current obsession for hires streaming which seems to have got a little out of hand with a large dose of marketing (what would Mr Nyquist think).

I just get a little frustrated with some modern user interfaces which look good but leave you a bit in the dark about functional detail. I guess I just like to know what file I'm playing, not an unreasonable expectation I think especially when I'm paying for it.
