Hello,

Is Sonos really trying to see how bad the software can be before people stop using the products?

The app & software is so bad to start with but now I have run into an issue that is horrible, even by Sonos subpar standards:

I am not able to use the app & soundsystem since the app refuses to update and doesnt let me use the app without the updated version. The only messgae that appears on the app is "there was a problem checking for updates".

Obviously, the customer service doesnt respond and there isnt any representatives online on the chat. And no, there is no error code.

Try rebooting your router.

Already tried that.
Contacted customer service and nothing worked. Its unbelievable. This thing about wifi ”interference” is simply mind boggling. How come every other system works except Sonos? Customer service even asked what hardware is used for the wifi.
I mean…when a product is so poorly designed and unstable that even the most basic things dont work, wouldn’t that be a place to really start wondering whether some major changes would be in order? 🙈 like maybe fire the it-department since who ever greenlighted this production phase should really take a long look in the mirror.

Possibly due to the fact that every other device on your LAN doesn’t need to communicate constantly with every other device on your LAN to maintain sync? Sonos uses the WiFi/LAN as it is designed to work, not merely a point device going to your computer like the vast majority of things out there. It’s easier, as a result, to expose shortcomings, when you’re trying to use more of the network than the simple basics.

It doesn’t help that sometimes networking can get hard, but Sonos does rely on the quality of the network it resides on. 99% of the time, there doesn’t seem to be an issue. It’s the rare case where it does, and requires extra effort to clean things up.
