System randomly playing music

Today was the fifth time in the past several months when our Sonos system randomly started playing music. This typically happens sometime between 4:15 PM central time and around 9 PM central time.

initially, it was Amazon prime music that was automatically playing. So we deleted the service. Today the service was Sonos Radio. Which we never listen to. As we only listen to Pandora radio.

We cannot find any posting on the Support website how to stop this sudden and somewhat alarming event to occur. Can someone please help?

Generate a diagnostics report within 10 minutes of it happening, and Sonos can probably tell you what instigated the play.

Do you have other users on your network who have access to your Sonos system that could be joking with you?  Otherwise, the diagnostics report from nik9669a seems to have a good direction for solution.

Do you have a voice assistant installed?

Other historical threads have revealed this being caused by other users or voice control, as suggested above, but also from Spotify users still connected to your speakers without realising it, and even pets pushing the “play” button whilst walking on speakers.

@Laddtx

Might be worth changing your Sonos account password in case someone is messing via the Sonos web app… Unlikely, but it wouldn’t do any harm!
