Maybe someone here can help, if you provide more detailed information about your entire network setup.
Is it just a router… are there wifi extenders… mesh wifi… any Sonos devices cabled via Lan to the router… fixed wifi channels… 2,4 and 5 GHz working?
There are many possible reasons why the controller device and Sonos devices can’t „see“ each other on the network.
But you can also contact Sonos customer support directly by phone and talk to them them. They can take a closer look at your system and also on system diagnostics.
Sorry but not tech minded. All I know is whenever I walk out of the room my Sonos is in and look at the app , the message says no system found. If I walk back into the same room it eventually clears. Can anyone help a " non - techy " person.
Many thanks
That means your WiFi connection between your phone and your router is being lost. Your phone requires that WiFi connection to your router in order to reach out to your Sonos speakers. The phone must be (techie speak here) on the same connection/subnet as the speakers are. It’s possible you have a poorly set up network, where different ‘pucks/extenders’ are breaking your network into separate parts.
Look here:
WiFi Assist
I suspect this is a common issue when your Apple phone is seeing a better mobile data signal (4G/5G), so disconnecting from your WiFi, this is enabled by default, try disabling, this should help keep your iPhone on your WiFi when roaming.
Please update your profile. Currently there is no mention of ROAM.
I suggest that you reboot the PLAY:1’s. Don’t Factory Reset anything without further consult.
Thanks for all replies ! Using an Android Samsung S21 Ultra so thought signal would be sufficient. Will try switching wifi off and see how that goes. Talktalk network is pretty suspect anyway

No, dont turn WiFi off. You need to stop the phone from connecting to 4G/5G mobile data network when your WiFi is potentially weak. Apple call this ‘WiFi Assist’, I’m not familiar with Samsung, but it may be called ‘Intelligent WiFi’:
