I see alot of people complaining about this in the new app, but I NEVER see it on a list of things that will be fixed. Come on this is really anoying. Why is this not being addressed.
Yes, this irritates me as well. Sonos devices should work the same way mobile phones work where a network previously connected to is automatically connected to when you visit that location again.
When I visit my daughter’s family I don’t want to jump through hoops to get my Moves connected to her network then when I come home have to repeat that process for my network. Once trusted a network should remain so.
Are both locations using the same HHID?
Don’t know what HHID is. When I visit my daughter my phone automatically connects to her network because the first time I visited her home she allowed me to connect to her network. Now when I visit again no action is required. Would be nice if, at least portable Sonos speakers, did the same.
Can someone explain to me how switching to a different network is done with the Sonos app? Is it seamless and reliable? Is there a reason Sonos cannot execute the switch the same way a mobile phone does. Does it have to do with whatever HHID is?

Interesting, so you mean if someone has setup a system, and then takes speaker(s) from their system to their work/family/etc location, but leaves it in the same system, ie on a different physical network by still assigned to original system. I can see this would cause issues.
Household ID?
The old app did this okay. The web app, while not just one click is way easier than the new Android app.
The new app most times acts like you want to set up a new system from scratch with discovery etc… “hold your phone near the speaker” COME ON!!!!
HHID (HouseHold ID) is a unique customer ID. Typically, all members of the HHID are physically in the same home, but this is not required. A vacation home and main home are the usual reason to split a system. It’s not required that the WiFi details be identical in the two locations. There will be a one time WiFi setup in each location. After that setup, you can freely move controllers and players between systems.
Music services don’t always like the split system. Spotify, for example, will not allow two different physical locations to simultaneously play from the same account even though you can play multiple Rooms on either system.
My use is slightly different. At home I have two WiFi networks, managed by the same router. The SONOS players are free to use the WiFi network of their choice. A year or two ago I took a ROME to work and signed it on to the work WiFi. Work has a different HHID. Therefore, the home and office players do not interact, they are independent systems. When I took the ROME home, it updated the other home players to the new WiFi. Now I can take any player from home and it will play at work.
