I am trying to stream from the Apple Classical app on my iPhone via AirPlay to Sonos Connect. Doesn’t work at all.

Does your Sonos CONNECT support AirPlay 2 at all? I thought the AirPlay 2 support didn’t come in until later, when the Sonos included the electronics to receive the signal in the Port?

I certainly don’t see the CONNECT listed on the FAQ

Correct @Airgetlam, the Connect doesn’t have Airplay support.

Thanks.

It is disappointing that an expensive device like a Sonos speaker loses its value to quickly, or at all. I own large passive speakers from around 1980 and they are still perfect.

Anyways, wasn’t there a workaround in which one should be able to stream to a group of Sonos devices, combining the Connect and a One? Airplay should work with the One, and from there the Connect would be supplied?

It’s not really fair to compare a Connect to passive speakers, but Sonos devices do tend to hold their value well and gain new features over time.

If you want AirPlay on your Connect, you can stream directly to any compatible Sonos speaker, such as a One. Alternatively, you can feed AirPlay into a Connect’s line‑in using a second‑generation AirPort Express, a WiiM Mini, or a similar device (or plug the AirPlay device directly into your amp/speakers).

That’s indeed a strange argument to use - when did those speakers ever support a music service?

Sonos supports any music service that wants to work with it - you could ask Apple why they do not make Apple Classic available to Sonos users as a music service.
