Spotify Stops Working, Sonos Hijacks and Keeps Spotify Connection, Won't Allow Other Bluetooth

I’ve been using Sonos for about five years now. Unfortunately, I had to delete the app this morning to get my Spotify to work with my other bluetooth devices like headphones and my Wiim Player.

This worked. But now, I don’t want to sign into my Sonos again. It constantly hijacks the connection and doesn’t let go.

This has been happening for over a year.

My WiiM player never does anything like this. I guess I’ll be sticking with WiiM, until I find an answer.

It takes way too long to keep deleting the Sonos app and reinstalling. My friends are having issues with simplicity too. I’m starting to regret recommending Sonos to friends.

I use Spotify either through voice control or from the Spotify service in the Sonos app.  I hardly ever use Spotify Connect.  What I have to do anytime I play from Spotify is go into the Spotify app on, in my case the iPhone, and select the iPhone as the “play to” device.  That releases it from Sonos.

@MoPac Seems to be certain this is a Spotify Connect problem, I do not read this from your post. If it was, I do not see why deleting the app (only a remote control to the system, remember) would resolve the problem.

Can you clarify what your use case is when Sonos would “hijack” the connection to Spotify?

I’m not understanding your issue. Per your profile you only have one Sonos BT capable speaker which is the Roam 2. The Roam 2 only allows a BT capable device to connect to it such as a cell phone or tablet to send it audio over BT. The Play 1 is not BT capable. So what does BT have to do with your Sonos and Spotify?

Are you saying when Sonos is signed into that you don’t see either your headphones or your WiiM in the devices to play to list?
