Spotify randomly not working

Spotify has randomly stopped working. I have reset my Sonos. I have reset Spotify. I have signed out of Spotify and re-sign into Spotify and nothing is working. It randomly stops working, will not connect, skips songs mid play, stutters, and speakers lost syncing with each other cause the sound to be salted per room. It will play Pandora and every other type of station that I have on here, but Spotify is the only service I have issues with. Is there a workaround to make it start working again? Is it an issue with Spotify or an issue with Sonos not being able to talk to Spotify? Is there a fix in the works to make this a better experience? Or is there an upgrade coming so that it stops doing this? It’s really frustrating and why have a Sonos system when I can just use a Bluetooth system?

Since this is Spotify only, and not any other services, that eradicates any potential (well, mostly) wifi interference you may be having, but does suggest the speakers or router are/is having trouble reaching Spotify’s servers. I’d start with a simple network refresh, to ensure all data is ‘fresh’ and distributed properly, by unplugging all Sonos devices from power, then rebooting your router. Wait a couple of minutes for it to come back up, then plug back in the Sonos. Wait a couple more minutes for them to boot up and reconnect to your router, then test.

The thing I’ve glossed on per is the possibility that the Spotify stream is denser than a normal stream (I don’t think it is), but just in case, it may behoove (such an odd word!) you to change your network channel on the router, and give the Sonos a couple of minutes to reconnect. It might be easier to just power cycle them, but you should choose the broadcast channel that doesn’t overlap with others. Sticking to 1, 6 or 11is the best way to do that, but you have to make those changes on your router, not the Sonos app.

Finally, if neither of those potential solutions don’t help at all, I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of reproducing the issue  and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
