Thought I would post this here in case it helps anyone else.
About 4ish months ago my Spotify Connect stopped working suddenly, this is the main way I use my Sonos so this was particularly annoying. I would see my speakers in the Spotify app but when selecting any speaker it would hang for a while then not connect.
Steps I tried:
- Tried a full reboot of my system and reboot of my network
- Whitelisted the below on my PiHole to rule out any issues there:
(.|^)spotify.com$
(.|^)spotifycdn.com$
(.|^)scdn.com$
audio-ak-spotify-com.akamaized.net
audio-ake.spotify.com.edgesuite.net - Removed Spotify from my Sonos services and then set it up again fresh
- Reinstalled Spotify apps and logged in fresh ensuring app had access to local network
None of the above worked and I was in the same position.
Over Christmas I noticed Spotify Connected worked fine at my parents house and additionally friends were able to use their Spotify Connect on my Sonos.
I created a new Spotify account and it worked fine with Spotify Connect on my Sonos so the issue seemed to be specifically between my Spotify account and my Sonos speakers.
So at this point thought the issue might on my Spotify account so I again removed my Spotify account from my Sonos and then went to my Spotify account and removed Sonos from my managed apps.
Trying Spotify Connect again I noticed Sonos re-appeared in my Spotify account managed apps despite already removing it and Spotify Connect still did not work.
Final fix:
- Remove Spotify from your Sonos services
- Remove Sonos from connected apps (https://www.spotify.com/uk/account/apps/)
- With Sonos Desktop App add Spotify under Settings > Services, selecting the second Spotify in the list of services (no idea why there is two) and authorize your account
Works perfectly now.
