Apple officially released Spatial Audio support to third parties for airplay 2. Does the Sonos team have a plan to implement this feature and if so what is the rough timeline for this? I love the sound of Spatial Audio on my pair of era 300s but don’t enjoy having to use the app to do so. I’m prepared to take them back and wait until this feature works with airplay 2. I don’t want to have to though, so a fast follow for this feature would be a high priority for me.
Unfortunately, like most manufacturers Sonos doesn’t release timelines on implementation of 3rd party integration. Heck, they rarely indicate a timeline for feature implementation that are product specific to their own product line. The best you might hope for is a “coming soon” if implementation is being considered.
Edit: If you return them what are your options to fulfill your need.
Then I guess I’ll go with HomePods for now. Only other spatial audio speakers on the market as far as my research goes and the experience of playing straight from Apple Music is just more seamless.
Also even if a timeline isn’t released a confirmation that they are working on it would be a start. Not acknowledging it makes Sonos seem unaware.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. Spatial Audio for music is a gimmick and you'll be back to enjoying stereo more in no time
