Since the PC app is in service mode, Sonos might have left a few methods for adding the library to your system in there that have been abolished. Be sure to follow this manual to ad the library: https://support.sonos.com/en/article/add-your-music-library-to-sonos
Hello 106rallye,
I went through everythihng in your reply, not only once or twice, but three times. After the first time, I was not able to add the library throught sonos 2 desk app, but, I was able to add it on the Sonos 2 app for Android. At least it appeared as though it was added. I did not see the library on the desk app, but I did hit “update library” and it was indexing, so I thought that it was added.
After three days of indexing on the sonos 2 desk app, I could tell that something was wrong. I closed the sonos 2 desk app, restarted my laptop and the library was not there. I went the the steps that you sent me “https://support.sonos.com/en/article/add-your-music-library-to-sonos” and everything looked fine. Today, when I attempted to add the library on the sonos 2 desk app, hitting “networked device (ex. NAS drive” I got the following message: “Sonos was unable to add the the music folder. Please check the path to the folder, and the username if needed are correct. Reason: Access to the shared folder //Scottnewlap/music2 is denied”. I used the exact username and password that I use for my microsoft account. I even double checked this by opening my microsoft account in chrome.
When I hit “another folder or a drive connected to my computer” I did get an error message.
You will never believe this! I used the Sonos 2 Android app and I was able to add it successfully too. I closed the sonos 2 desktop app, reopened it and “wala”, everything is there.
I don’t know (nor do I care) what I did wrong or did correctly, but problem solved and everything is there. Thanks so much for your time, energy and patience in assisting me to resolve this matter.
