I just noticed the latest update for the Android App to 80.18.23 and upon launching it then invoked the update of each Sonos device to OS Version 84.1-63110.

 

Unfortunately the new App hung at the “Finishing update” stage.  

I left it for 30 minutes and nothing happened but the spinning wheel.

The Android App and the devices are all reporting that they are at the correct level now so I presume it hung whilst cleaning up but it doesn’t fill you with confidence.

I’m sorry to hear that you were having trouble with the Sonos app. From your post, it seems that it’s all sorted now. If the app gets stuck on a black screen or loading screen then it’s fine to close the app. Since the app is just a controller, closing out of it wont cause any issues with your system.

Without a diagnostics I can’t say why the app was stuck on that screen, but since it’s working now it likely was just a one-time error.
