Hi guys.

I've just got my new speaker. Was wondering if the sound quality would be different from using mobile data and the bluettoth. Options . To using the sonos app and a fibre biradband connection plz??

I can't afford both u see but don't know if I will lose quality in sound .alongside using the app etc .the pros and cons for either are 2 each.

PROS:::: CANF USE MY MOBILE ON SONOS APP.

THE DELAY

CONS is slow when on phone to acer help etc . So don't end up completing what I'm trying to learn …

No data when I'm out . For. Calls or tunes .

To save on Spotify bill.

I don't even know what I'm saying now. Infor action overload. But if anybody would know the difference please in broadband and mobile data when using a sonos speaker??

Thank you guys

Hannah

I think you’re asking whether there’s a difference in sound quality and performance when using your new Sonos speaker via mobile data and Bluetooth, versus using it through the Sonos app with fibre broadband.

Apologies if I’ve misunderstood – your message was a little unclear...!

To clarify:

  • If you have a Sonos Era 100 or Era 300, or Move or Roam, those do support Bluetooth, so you can stream directly from your phone if needed.
  • That said, Sonos speakers are designed to work best over Wi-Fi, ideally with a broadband connection.
  • Using the Sonos app with broadband will usually give you better sound quality, more stability, and access to full features like grouping rooms, voice assistants, and streaming services.
  • Using mobile data with Bluetooth might work in some situations, but it can be:
  •     Less reliable (especially if you’re also using your phone for calls or help chats)
  •     More limited (e.g. no grouped playback, no voice assistant, higher data use)

If you’re choosing between mobile data and broadband, broadband is definitely the better option for sound quality and ease of use.

Hope that helps a bit…??

Thank you guys

I agree will be better in general. Just can't afford both sim and broadband . So need to decide which option. I'm thinking today..  Thank you for advice though . 🙏

There is a LOT of data traffic while playing online music. Some data plans feature unlimited data, others will add additional charges when you cross a monthly data threshold. If you are playing music stored on a local phone/pad/computer/hard drive, the data service doesn’t care.

You’re in the UK - if you go with EE for broadband I believe they offer unlimited data on a cheap SIM only deal. But go on price comparison sites for broadband and mobile. Some companies offer really cheap broadband and you only need the standard 60mbps broadband really. You can also get masses of data for next to nothing per month with companies like Giff Gaff. So don’t think you can’t afford both - just shop around and don’t get taken for a ride.

Yeah definitely I agree. I gona take a look.thanks for getting back to me
