Sonos S2 App - Laggy Audio Control 20% of the time

I have 7 sonos amps configured in a daisy chain to one switch port for ethernet right now. I have tried both 1 amp wired and no amps wired with the same results. The volume control slider on s2 app is about 20% of the time delayed about 1-2 seconds. Meaning I change the audio but the audio doesn't actually adjust for 1-2 seconds. I have many projects with the same config and I have never noticed this. Same exact equipment and gear.

The only difference here is the router inf ront of the Bell Fiber GigaHub and configured with PPPOE which seems to have been working well. I downloaded teh desktop app and it works perfect. WiFi is very strong I am right beside an AP with full power.

Spoke with Sonos and they saw nothing on their end. Anyone have any ideas, similar circumstance or anything ?

I verified non of the amps is the root bridge in the matrix and they all just appear as secondary nodes which my understanding is good

There is no Volume control delay when you use the desktop controller? Which controller devices are you using? Have you tried resetting the wireless controller?

EDIT: Are you Grouping the AMP’s?

no the desktop controller works 100% of the time S2 APP for Windows.

I am using Sonos S2 Ap on my device (S25+ Android)

Araknis Network with their router in front of the bell hub ISP.  I’ve tried rebooting routers/switches, root bridge for STP, driving me mad.

WiFi 6 APs. But like I mentioned on my laptop it works perfect I can’t make it lag at all

RIght now I am trying to just control 1 zone ungrouped, its the first amp in the daisy chain connected to the switch

Had a similar issue and it was mutual interference between two Sonos.

Consider a $20 switch to eliminate the Amp daisy-chain and the dependence on upstream Amps passing on the commands. Might not be needed but it eliminates a possible point of failure and is quick, cheap and easy.

If no surrounds or Subs are involved consider turning off the radios in all Amps. On the menu it is called "disable wifi" but it actually is "disable the entire internal radio" which will prevent the too-close interference issue.

“Laggy” response does suggest difficulty in the local network’s ability to address the speakers consistently in order to send a command. I’d certainly suggest trying a network refresh, by unplugging all Sonos devices from power, then rebooting the router they connect to. Wait two minutes, then plug back in the Sonos devices. Wait another two minutes, then test.

Alternately, I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
