So you think he would have been given the information that Playlist editing is coming back in the next update or the one after, but ‘they’ will have withheld contradictory information about playlists being removed?

Conspiratorial nonsense.

No what I’m saying is it’s ridiculous that it’s been 10 months without this feature that Sonos has had for over a decade and maybe the Sonos staff posting here don’t have all the information.

I can imagine that the original code base is now a gaggle of patches. This is very common as legacy code is dragged forward. In an effort get rid of the patches, I think that SONOS decided to modernize the development tools, but this meant untangling the gaggle. This can be very time consuming and the required effort multiplied if the original gaggle writers have left the company.

By the way, I’m not trying to justify releasing the “new improved” too early. This would be a discussion for the corporate elite.

Sonos says the new app is all new code base, and a new app from the ground up. They say to improve development, get rid of legacy code and allow pushing updates quicker. Were you not aware of this or do you think they have a “gaggle of patches” already ?

I like many miss the playlist editing function as I have spent countless hours creating playlists for special occasions and or just the mood that I am in at the moment.

Sonos support convinced me to download the desktop app and I have say it is easy to do and the playlist editing function works well and is straightforward.(basically i am now editing my playlists on my windows computer and not my mobile).  Not perfect but an easy fix until the mobile functionality comes back.

Yeah that’s great if you have a desktop. But a lot of people, including myself, only use tablets and phones, and don’t have the use for a pc or laptop anymore. And I don’t plan on buying one just because sonos can’t give its customers what they actually want.

Still  no update on playlist editing, creation etc. (Since the mgtmt changes at Sonos, the app updates are less frequent)
