Sonos playing with CarPlay?

I’ve noticed some strange ghostly Sonos playing, that shouldn’t be happening!

If I ask Alexa (using the Sonos mic) to play something on Spotify, then stop it, then get in the car (which automatically starts Apple CarPlay and plays music from Spotify) the music in the house will continue playing too!

I only noticed this because it was my wife who got in the car while I was still at home.

I can’t imagine how, but is there a way I can prevent this from happening or is this a bug with Sonos, Spotify or Apple CarPlay?

 

It has left me wondering how often this has happened when we are both out of the house!!

I’m happy to run further tests/diagnostics to try and figure out the root causes.

Hi.  This is a well known feature of Spotify and can occur with any Spotify Connect enabled speaker, not just Sonos.   The only thing you can do to stop it (as far as I know, is to play another source on the Sonos speaker.
