Hi,

Just got a new LG C4 TV after having an old Samsung for 10 years, been using a Playbar the whole time.  I have the new TV and Magic Remote hooked up to the Playbar no problem.  However, my old TV used an IR remote and I was able to control the Playbar’s volume when the TV was off, but I was streaming music to the Playbar via the Sonos app.  The new LG remote uses RF and will only control the Playbar if the TV is on.  I think I am answering my own question here, but is there any way to get the Magic Remote (RF) to control the Playbar directly, with the TV off, so I can adjust the volume of music streaming to the Sonos device with the TV off?

thanks…

Charlie

It’s probably not even the remote that sends the ir signal - on my 2019 Samsung it’s the TV (to be precise the Connect Box) that sends the ir signal. Which means it does not send anything when the TV is off……

Yes, but my cheapo replacement remote for my old Samsung TV controlled the TV and the Soundbar streaming music when TV was off...just FYI.

And you can’t get that to command the LG?

weird, my 2016 LG oled magic remote only does sonos volume when tv off. Tv on and remote changes to magic, volume bar shows and playbar flashes but tv volume does not change.

SkyQ and google tv remotes both work ok
