Hi,

All my music is stored in a NAS share (OurMusic). I manage this with Windows Media Player (WMP). SONOS has access to it via \\NAS01\OurMusic.

Over the years I have created numerous playlists in WMP, some of which are still active, many have been deleted.  SONOS retains the name of every playlist I have ever created in its Imported Playlists list even those that have been deleted from WMP.  Qu.1 Why?

In Windows Explorer, This PC > Network locations I can see x.x.x.167 Sonos Play:1; x.x.x.185 Sonos Play:1; x.x.x.220 Sonos Playbar. When I browse these locations I see e.g. Sonos Play:1>Attributes>Playlists, that contains a Folder for each and every playlist I have ever created in WMP. But every folder is empty!  Qu.2 Can I delete the extinct playlists from each of the 3 locations (speakers)?

Qu.3 How do I get SONOS’s Imported playlists list to agree with the current playlist list in WMP?

Sorry for rabbiting on, would very much like to hear any comments.

Thanks for reading.

I don’t know the answer but wonder if it might be to do with music library index updating? Do you have indexing set for a particular time, or manually? If the latter, have you done it recently?

I have just checked Music Library

Music Index.

  • Schedule Music Index Updates is turned off
  • Music Index Update Time 02:00
  • Update Music Index Now

All 3 are greyed out.

If I try to turn on the schedule update, I get a message saying System Update Needed.

I did an update some time ago to S2.  This lost all cover art, so I reverted back to S1 v11.15.2 (not a simple procedure). Not wishing to go through that again, it would appear that I can’t do an index update!

I suspect that the latest version of S1 isn’t v11.15.2, which would be why it is suggesting you update the app. This isn’t upgrading to S2, just getting on the current version of S1.

Well, encouraged by your reply I ‘checked for updates’ and SONOS found one.

After applying the update I am now on v11.15.3. This has allowed me to switch Schedule Music Updates on and I have also used Update Now. Nothing has changed!

No errors are reported and apart from a message telling me that an update is happening there is no indication of what’s going on in the background.  If the update schedule mentioned above has switched on then it should have run last night, but again there is no indication that it has.

Those playlists that have been deleted from WMP and still appear in Imported Playlists continue to play when selected.  Conclusion: SONOS is not ‘syncing’ with \\NAS01\OurMusic but merely copying anything that is new.

Do you think it would be worthwhile to unlink \\NAS01\OurMusic and starting over. (Don’t fancy doing this).
