Sonos from 2010- Is there a need for subscriptions to create playlists?

It’s 2025, I’m in my 60’s. Can you help with today’s technology? I used Rhapsody over a decade ago but what is the way to make a playlist these days. Subscription okay. Not having luck with Spotify.  My system is old but sounds fantastic...still have operating controller (about the size of a card deck). I really want to make playlists.

You likely need a subscription for an online streaming services to create a playlist, but if you have your own locally held music, shared over the LAN from a local PC or NAS box, then you should be able to create your own playlists. Perhaps use your own *.m3u / *.m3u8 playlists, as outlined here:

Rhapsody has morphed into Napster. You will probably have better results if you control with a  phone/pad/computer SONOS App.
