I have the latest app. on my iPad and it works fine BUT try as I might I can not add a music folder located on my W11 PC to the app. Both are on the same network. The network is ticked as PRIVATE in W11.  The path is //John1/Music where John1 is the name of the PC. There is no issue the PC security firewall set up. After the app. scans I get:    //John1/Music is no longer available. The PC IS NOT ASLEEP!

Can anyone help?  Thank you. John

Sorry but I do not understand your reply. I said nothing about setting up on iPhone. I am trying to get my iPad to recognise a folder located on my PC

Hi @Grierson

Welcome back to the Sonos Community!

Sorry to hear of this issue you are having with adding a shared folder with your Sonos system on Windows 11.

If our Adding a Music Library share guide does not help, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

You may find it easier to use the Sonos app for Windows to add the share to Sonos - you can download it here.

I hope this helps.

Many thanks for your reply. I had indeed been through the guide you mention. I’m not sure how the Windows app. will help but I will give it try. I will also make contact with your support team. Thank you again - John

Hi @Grierson

Sometimes just using a different app (or the same app on a different device) to perform a problematic task will help it work. It depends upon what is going wrong in the process, of course - something that the support team will be able to determine and resolve for you, should you need to contact them

When using the Desktop app, please be sure to use the bottom of the three options (Networked device) in the pop-up that appears after clicking on Add/+.

I hope this helps.

Hi Corry P, I have now had the opportunity to download the Windows version of the app. as you suggested. Despite my earlier negative thoughts I must now thank you for giving me my music back!

But, and there is always a but, having tried to ‘Add music folder’ using the bottom of the three options this simply does not work. However using the  app. on the Windows computer where the music is stored and using the second option ‘a folder or drive connected to my computer’ and by using the ‘browse’ button, the path to the drive was recorded in the app. together with the name of the computer. (The computer is located elsewhere in the house)

Now, opening the app. on my iPad, in the living room ( where the speaker is located), sure enough, the same path was displayed and surprise, surprise the app. listed all the music on the Windows computer.

Obviously the Windows computer needs to remain on to play my music but this a small price to pay.

I see lots of adverse comments here in the UK about SONOS and I am sure the excellent product is let down by its’ software, not every user is computer literate and even if they are setting up the speaker is a time consuming nightmare.

Nevertheless I thank you once again for pointing me in the right direction.

John

Having now got my music back thanks to Corrie P I have now added Sonos ERA 100 to my dining room. One small issue I have with the installation is that the power light does not stay on. It flashes briefly when the unit is first powered on after which it goes out despite playing music as expected. I may be missing something but I wonder if anyone has an answer? Thanks, John

Hi @Grierson

Glad to hear you got your Music Library working once more!

The status light on a speaker can be turned on with the setting in the app: Settings icon » nroom with Era 100] » Status Light » On.

I hope this helps.

Thank you. All I have to do now is to work out why one of the libraries Sonos lists is one that I put together years ago. The music from it still plays but I have no idea where it is hosted! Happy days, John
