sonos app, system display glitches

I have a sonos system, two sound bars, a number of Roams, one of which stays plugged in, and 5 or so Symfonsk from Ikea speakers.

here lately, when I open the app, it will only show the source that I last used, if the tvs are on they don’t show up until I delete the app from my apple device and reinstall it!

any ideas why?

That suggests a network issue, but only suggests it, it doesn’t confirm it. I’d try a network refresh, to test. Unplug all Sonos devices from power (or shut them down completely, if they are batttery powered), as well as your controller device, an iPad in this case, but for others reading this, it might be something else. Then reboot your router. Give the router a couple of minutes to come back up, then plug back in / power up all the Sonos devices, and finally the controller device (the iPad).

Wait a couple of minutes further for them to all load their various OS, then test.

I’d double check all devices, both Sonos and iOS iPad , for updates, too.

If this doesn’t resolve the issue, I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of reproducing the issue, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Thanks, it suggests an app issue to me! Especially if deleting the app and reinstalling resolves the issue.  No other applications burp like this, and my mesh router seems to perform admirably.  In the past, I have resolved issues similar to this, disappearing sources, by using the windows app to see the sources, then the TV source miraculously appears in the apple app.

but thanks again for your suggestion.

Reinstalling the app changes almost nothing. It will restart the network connection to the router and likely start on a 2.4GHz connection, then once the phone likely switches to 5GHz then you hit your router’s likely underlying problem. Rebooting your phone will probably have a similar effect.

Please tell us about your router as it is broken.

Disappearing items are always network problems, not app problems (May 2024 issues excepted).
