That’s correct, the PC/Mac desktop Apps had their system administrative features removed years ago and have been in ‘maintenance mode’ for a very long time. I expect to see them obsoleted in the not-too-distant future and replaced with the Sonos Web App - that too has no system administration either.
You will need to use a Sonos mobile App for system setup, as mentioned in the following Sonos system and app requirements…

Thats not very good when I need the mac or windows app to make the update?!
The only workaround I found to error code 1002 directley after start of update is to make the update from windows or mac app. Since this option now is closed I am stuck without any more options to try more than 10 times with factory reset will not help.
The update never really starts the error is pretty instant after update is selected.
There are no other options than update to get in to the amp1.
Here something is missing in the software?! Like removing the spare wheel in a car you probably never need it...
