This app is terrible . And there’s barely a work around even the AirPlay doesn’t work for the speakers . After playing one song on AirPlay my phone tells me it can’t connect to the server . So when I use the app I have to deal with this terrible user interface . Why can’t I just go to my songs on Apple Music and play all of my songs on shuffle ? The search function is terrible as well and not organized . I don’t understand how all of the users have been having the same issues and Sonos has done nothing . I saw a post saying the same thing from 3 years ago ?? What company doesn’t listen to its customers and still has the nerve to charge a thousand dollars for a sound bar . I guess that’s why they’re all on Facebook market .

Your post doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.

My AirPlay 2 works well on the Sonos speakers I have that support AirPlay 2, I have no difficulty using the Apple Music app to play songs, random or not, although I mostly use iHeart radio when using AirPlay 2.

AirPlay 2 doesn’t connect to a ‘server’ of any type. When using the AirPlay 2 menu on your Apple device, it would connect to a Sonos speaker. Only those that are AirPlay 2 capable would show in that menu, you would need to group any other Sonos ‘rooms’ in the Sonos controller to get that source to play on them.

Not sure I understand your other issues. Could you please reiterate them, with a bit more detail? I’ll certainly grant you that some don’t like the UI, but I think Sonos (or Apple) allows you to do everything you mention in the app.

When using Apple Music and air play . If I click on a song I get a message that says “A server with the specified host name cannot be found” and will not play any music

That sounds like an Apple issue, not a Sonos issue. Have you reached out to Apple?

The other thing I’d recommend is that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, they get sensitive about GDPR.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Obviously, you are playing Apple Music songs that are not downloaded to your device. You are in effect streaming from the Apple server. However, not being able to connect to the Apple server has nothing to do with the Sonos airplay cable speaker.
