Hi,

Came back from 3 weeks vacation and wanted to listen to some nice music while unpacking. But my Sonos app did not show any of my speakers. I had to reboot the router and reinstall the app to make it work again.

But: a day later same problem, all speakers gone.

What is going on here?

Possibly your speakers are on 2.4ghz and your phone is connecting to a 5ghz wifi signal? Are the wifi names the same for both frequencies?

Describe your network for us. Router model number? Mesh points? SONOS models? Network switches?

It’s best to power down the router, all of the players, and maybe some of the other network clients. Bring the router up first, then the SONOS units.

It’s possible that something updated while you were away and “new improved” broke something. The “day later” part of your issue suggests that you should “reserve” IP addresses in your router. Way back in 2005 I had many odd issues, some similar to yours. At that time I started reserving addresses for all regular network clients and have not had those issues since then. Some users will follow this post and chide me for suggesting reservations. It’s true that many modern routers are less likely to get into trouble over a power failure, but reservations are a one time messy job after replacing a router. I sleep well -- and don’t have struggles such as you report.

I’ll also note that the gateway given out by my ISP has a checkered reputation when I search the Internet for issues. I’m in the habit of rebooting it once a month. We have the same model gateway at the office and once a month reboot keeps the office running smoothly too.
