Does anyone know if Sonos is purposely asking their app complete and utter garbage? My assumption is that it’s to push people into buying newer speakers that have airplay (or whichever system android is using). It’s not even usable in it currently state.

Your assumptions are clearly built on solidly researched foundations. If there is one thing Sonos hates it’s people using their app to control their speakers.
