I have loved! No adored my Sonos setup from speakers to port device through to what was the slick app/controller.

One day I woke up and the Sonos app was updated and now it’s the worse thing I’ve ever used, absolutely awful, slow, unresponsive, unable to seamlessly move control from one device to another, but worse of all unable to add new or update existing playlists?!?  Who in the hell approved this? Being able to create and amendment playlists was one of the fundamental basic uses of the Sonos app and now it’s gone.
I recently cancelled my new speaker purchase as I am considering moving away from Sonos now as this has become unbearable.

Couldn’t agree more. It is just so flakey these days - one day it works fine, the next I can’t group speakers or change the volume. In addition, it will work on my iPad but not my iPhone and vice versa and there seems no logic as to why it is doing this. I find the lag to be very irritating. All first world problems of course but like you, my Sonos purchasing days are over. I was with some friends last week who were thinking about buying into the Sonos environment, but after hearing about the hopeless App and the way it was forced upon users, they are now looking elsewhere and I don’t blame them.

Completely agree.  the sound is excellent but in terms of connectivity it's crap.  And I'm not talking about the damn crap applications that need to be updated otherwise they're unusable.  Please don't buy speakers with Bluetooth because you will evoke all the saints in heaven following a power failure.

It’s absolutely shocking isn’t it, when you think of the basic cost of these devices and you can’t get a simple app to do what iTunes had been doing since 2002!! It’s embarrassing and I think I’m done.

Amen to all of the above complaints. The app is fiddly at best, generally mysterious, and at worst requires a reboot of my laptop to reset communication links. The transition from archived music files to streaming content like Spotify, or browser based music from youtube, etc, is a disaster. The app gets totally lost in the matrix. A real pity, as I love the new Era 300 set I purchased 7 months ago.

Hey Sonos, how about some best practices for switching music sources! Thanks.
