The app tells me it needs a update, I press it, it then says done, I press it and it then goes back to the update screen. It is stuck doing this loop?

Looking at your system, I can see that all your devices are fully up-to-date. Are you still seeing this issue? If so, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

I think it was due to me having a play 5 on sonos 1 confusing the system. I unplugged it and it finally seems to have settled down. Could this had been the issue?

A Play:5 Gen 1? Absolutely!
If you still want to use your Play:5 Gen 1, please factory reset it and set it up on the S1 Sonos app, while your S2 system is unplugged from power. Once it has been set up, you can turn on your S2 system again. There won’t be an issue with using the same Sonos account on the S1 app.
