Amazed to see that I was actually able to create an alarm today using iOS app ( after several days of attempting to do it and troubleshooting with zero success,)  However, is defaulting to the annoying chime sound instead of playing music playlist.

Can we get an update from Sonos on what is happening? I am spending way too much time on this and trying to troubleshoot it on my end when it’s clearly something wrong on the back end

Let me set the stage by providing my device specs for iOS and Android

iPhone 15 Pro Max

  • iOS: 18.4.1
  • Sonos Build: 80.19.21

Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+

  • Android: 14 / One UI ver. 6.1
  • Sonos Build: 80.19.10

Below is a step by step guide on how to set an alarm that works for iOS and Android. It was designed to be very detail; therefore it shows all 18 steps. Read and follow it carefully. Don’t complain about the steps as they are what they are. Depending upon your degree of understanding you may be able to skip some.

Also, there is no need to post your issue in multiple threads. I counted at least three (3) in addition to this one. If you are still unable to set an alarm; to your satisfaction after following the guide below, then I highly recommend you contact Sonos Tech Support.  Good Luck 👍

I posted in other threads to raise awareness and bring visibility to the ongoing “known issue”

no update from Sonos as to progress on resolving?

also, tried again to create a new alarm just now and is not working again

So this morning i was able to create one

then 2 hours later its not working again.

I am on the phone with Sonos support now, for the second day in a row

There’s no update and it’s not in their roadmap on Trello. You’ll probably need to keep posting relentlessly to get attention.

Hope you get your issues resolved.

As for as visibility for a “known” issue…the threads you posted in are anywhere from 30 days to 11 months old with very little activity outside of yours. That said yours appears to be isolated to your system/device(s) which disqualifies it as a “known” issue which would mean it affects countless others.

Point of fact…I have no issue setting an alarm in iOS nor Android. When you get your issue resolved please let us know what was the causal factor. It may be useful for others in the future.

The OP has gotten attention. They’re talking to Sonos Support at this moment. I guess you didn’t bother to carefully read their post. You’re just trying to add fuel to a fire.

Why are you so concerned that I suggest they keep advocating for a fix? It’s pathetic that you would suggest OP not post about their issues and that you would characterize my post as “add fuel to a fire.” Point of fact: Sonos released one of the worst app update ever and we still are not back to parity 12 months later.

First of all there’s nothing to fix as far as the app is concerned. I’ve set alarms in both iOS and Android.

Second I never suggested the OP not post about their issue. What I did say is that there is no need to post an issue in multiple threads; especially those that have seen no activity for months and already marked as “answered”. The OP correctly started their own post which places it at the top of “Recently” and under “unanswered” questions.

Again you are obviously agitated about the app or Sonos in general. Again, I say you’re just trying to add fuel to a fire.

I’m going to leave this thread alone as I don’t want to negatively escalate the conversation(s) and have it closed by a Moderator. You may continue to post as you like.

Hopefully, the OP will get the issue resolved.

I was told by two different technical support people on two different days that it is a “known issue” with iOS and making alarms After getting nowhere with troubleshooting. And that There is no ETA on the fix

Well, it turns out I can’t even make the alarm on the macOS or android and magically out of nowhere It worked this morning and two hours later it stopped again, except it only played the chime and not the music playlist. I’m just trying to get some answers and help motivate the dev team to work on this issue

and if you search alarms, you see that a lot of people are posting about it whether it’s not being able to create or edit them or the fact that he is playing the chime instead of the music playlist so it’s not an isolated situation with my system

When the response is

“First of all there’s nothing to fix as far as the app is concerned. I’ve set alarms in both iOS and Android”

there’s no point in even responding as they exist in an alternate reality or are purposely gaslighting.

I think I might’ve solved my problem.  (No, thanks to technical support )

I was hitting the limit of my alarms with 32 of them.
