I paid £19.99 for the Sonos 2 speaker controller during my Sonos 2 setup. It came from Apples AppStore. Was that a con?

The Sonos S2 app is free. It seems you bought a non-Sonos app.
Some 3rd party SONOS controller Apps are popular and work well. Only the SONOS controller App can be used for system setup.
The App stores are making finding the right controller app pretty frustrating. Search for Sonos and you get paid advertising placements that at first look sound good but as was said ONLY the official, from Sonos, free app is fully functional for setup use.
Several of the paid apps are good, maybe better for daily use than the official one. I've resisted so far but the official app is so frustrating in several areas that I may throw in the towel and switch for daily use.
+24There are many sketchy apps with the word “Sonos” in the App Store. You can tell because they have hundreds of five star reviews, but the only reviews from real humans have 1 star and comments indicating the app is a scam.
Please give the scam app a 1 star review with a suitable comment, then submit a refund request from Apple. Please also share the name (but not a link) of which app you were scammed by.
There are some actual, real, quality independent Sonos apps in the Store, like mine. These you can tell because they get regular updates and have real reviews in the Store.
Apple did not let me use the word Sonos in the name of my app, but they don’t care about the scam apps using it.
FYI the Windows Store is way worse for these scam apps with Sonos in the name. Microsoft did eventually pull a scam app that used the name of my app appended with the word “Pro”, but there are a lot remaining.
