Sleep Timer ends → Green LED appears at night (Stereo Pair Sonos One)

I use a Sonos One stereo pair in the bedroom and frequently use Sleep Timer.

After recent updates, when Sleep Timer finishes and playback fades out to zero, both speakers show a solid green LED during the night.

Important behavior:

If I manually pause playback → no green LED appears
If Sleep Timer ends playback → green LEDs appear
Speakers remain fully online and functional
No need to restart or reset devices

This did not happen previously and seems like a change in behavior after recent Sonos app/firmware updates.

Since this occurs in a bedroom use case, the LEDs are disruptive at night.

I suspect Sleep Timer end-state is now treated as mute/idle, triggering the green LED.

Can this behavior be confirmed or reviewed?

The green is the mute indicator, not sure about the change but we use these to dim the Sonos LEDs.

Many others available, other colors too.

Yes, but it worked flawlessly for years, and I do not agree that some update will screw it up.

Complaining to other users here will accomplish little, a moderator might see this and tag it as a feature request with no promise it would be accepted.

If you want a change (new or back) it is best to call Sonos support.

The green LED illuminating when muted has been the case for many years.
I can’t comment on the sleep timer fade-to-mute as I don’t use the feature.

It’s still “working flawlessly”, but apparently not in the way you want it to work.
