What is being done to fix the glitching, especially the repeated drop in streaming with latest S2 controller? i have an Era 300 which is “usable” only if one is willing to endure countless drops in streaming. it’s a joke that an inexpensive bluetooth receiver plugged into a TRS port on my old Play 5 performs flawlessly but the so-called advanced technology of the Era 300/S2 player cannot. I’m ready to move on from Sonos if they cannot produce equipment that simply works.
I’m not experiencing this, but I am using S2. Makes me wonder if it is a local network issue, like wifi interference , or possibly a duplicate IP address issue.
I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. But don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, they get sensitive about GDPR.
There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.
When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
Thank you for the reply Bruce.
Sonos always talks about WiFi interference but, I’m connecting via Bluetooth from phone or laptop. As mentioned, I have not trouble connecting to Play 5 with cheap TRS jack wifi receiver using S1. Also have no issues connecting to Bose soundbar over Bluetooth.
I’ll try support as suggested but have low expectations with this company at this point.
Bluetooth, like WiFi, is a radio signal. Location could be a part of it as well, as much as hardware or software. Networking itself, whether wireless or WiFi, depends on an IP address. Don’t take an assumption it is one thing until you’ve ruled out the possibilities.
Unfortunately, only Sonos employees have access to much of the hard data that can help, via the diagnostic, something denied to us mere mortals, likely due to laws like GDPR, since I assume there are PIDs in them that shouldn’t be public.
Good luck!
Thanks for the additional clarification!
