I have Sonos S2 Desktop App for Windows 80.1 55014 installed, Apparently, 81.1 was introduced on Oct 29th. Sonos now will not let me update my local music library without first updating to the new software. The option to “Update Music Library Now” is simply greyed out (and so are other options such as “Music Library Settings”). This was always an issue as when I updated from 79.1 to 80.1 (which then precipitated the Error 913 problem).

I spent ½ hour with Sonos Help Desk and the answer is too bad, you have no choice!

Now at least with the Mobile App there is the choice not to download automatic update

So questions:

  1. Does anyone know if you can update library without updating firmware?
  2. Does anyone have issues with the new firmware?

Thanks

When the app & firmware are not updated there can be issues that cause more trouble than any bugs that might be introduced by the update.  My only issue is I have to manually look in the Apple App Store for my app updates and even with automatic firmware updates scheduled they don’t automatically update.

Thank you for your reply, @MoPac.

So Plan B, just in case all hell break loose again, can someone kindly walk me through how to re-install/roll back 80.1 onto the S2 firmware app -- I am now saving all previous versions of the firmware. What a lousy company!!

Thanks

Thanks.

You can use my Windows app (see profile) to Update the Music Library. It doesn’t care what firmware version you have.

Thanks, I will take a look
